Guaranteed an oscar

Now this may sound like i good thing, but im not so some. I mean I sure that this is an excellent documentary and Rogert Ebert is a truly fantastic man, but no matter what happens this film will win the oscar for best documentary. I mean a documentary could be realised which changes the way in which they are filmed forever whilst raising some key questions, but it would still lose out to 'life itself' just because of its subject choice.

War is peace.
Freedom is slavery.
Ignorance is strength.

Good documentary, but I somehow doubt about the Oscar win, probably some tearjerker doc with a bigger subject comes out and takes that statue...

I'd say it's almost guaranteed an Oscar nomination and could be a favorite to win. Have to admit that I'm unfamiliar with most of the other docs but given its themes and the fact that Ebert was fairly popular with filmmakers, I'd say the film has an excellent shot to win.

Here we are, a couple of weeks later and NO OSCAR NOM for "Life Itself".

Like many, I'm shocked but perhaps shouldn't have been. Rewarding a film critic?

Probably too much for them, even posthumously.
