Hollywood is locked in a perpetual 'midlife crisis' for its aging male stars. The situation exists independent of the actors themselves so it hardly seems reasonable to view it as a reflection of Smith personally. I sincerely doubt he has a clause in his contract stipulating that all casting choices be in accordance with this midlife crisis you assume he's undergoing.
Male actors have always aged comfortably in their roles, retaining their box office status and the calibre of roles they are offered, while the female leads working opposite them are suspended in time, never aging past a certain point. It's the status quo.
Yes, it should change but it's not a reflection of Will Smith as an individual.
