She wasn't a sympathetic character by any means. For me, the movie would have been stronger if she had not married Tony - maybe not even said "I Love you" - that would have made the romance build a little more.
However, once she married him and then went off to have a fling with another guy - made me really dislike her character. Who has sympathy for someone like that? If she was so uncertain - don't marry him! Or maybe the director and screenwriter had some sort of other idea in their heads and maybe it just didn't get communicated on screen the best way...I don't know.
For me, there wasn't really a dilemma, and I found myself loosing interest after she went back to Ireland. And as others said - why not just tell people??
Anyone defending her really seems strange to me. Especially people who rationalize she didn't cheat - she had an emotional affair.
Anyways, it felt rushed. Liked many, many, many aspects of the movie - but her character really turned me off.
