shareThe beginning of the song is particularly unbearable. Unfortunately, it's rather easy to accidentally listen to. Actually, the only bearable part of the song is the "think of all the roads..." interlude, which is rather nice.
The first episode of the show opens with a great song that I actually thought was going to be the theme at first. When I realized the truth, I was horrified. One of the worst themes for any show I have consistently watched.
I don't think the song itself is a problem, but the combo loud song + somewhat unpleasant close-ups of multiple faces + long intro. The fact that it's so long is what bothers me the most, though. The same thing happens w/ House of Cards (f* long intro). Maybe it's a Netflix productions thing.

Yeah, I wouldn't say it's the best part of the show but I do really really like it and get excited everytime it starts. I sing along like every other time it plays. I guess message boards really do attract whiners and complainers because all but one of the friends & acquaintances I've discussed the show with adore that freaking song.

LOLOLOL I love it, I know all the words and I sing along every time. I don't notice that it's louder than the show. And I would never listen to it outside of the show, but I don't know... it's just the theme song and it's catchy, like with any show. I'm sure there are people who really like Friends but can't stand theme song every episode.

I also detest it! I ALWAYS fast forward through it too. Only 1 time Netflix automatically skipped it for me.

The woman's voice sounds like nails on a chalkboard.
Plus I don't want to see a bunch of gross faces up close.
I always quickly pause when the "Netflix" logo comes up, then fastforward to the frame where the gate closing sound effect starts.
I really hate it too! I heard it once and now I ffw through it. I even get annoyed with myself if I don't ffw quickly enough and I hear the opening bars. It's horrendous. I don't mind the close ups so much. Just the song.
Oh and if you were wondering, I read somewhere that Piper Kerman's eyes are the vivid blue ones that blink.
