The first episode doesn’t compare to the spellbinding first episode of the first season with McConaughey and Harrelson. We are NEVER going to see that genius again. S4 opening song is not that good either compared to the 3 other seasons. The general consensus is it’s been used a lot lately and shouldn’t have made the cut.
This S4 really looks like a lot of other series that were Icelandic or Finnish or Norwegian that most more than likely did not see. Like Fortitude, Trapped, Cliff or Lava Field or Arctic Circle or even Dead Mountain or Wisting. I’m going to wait until all episodes are released and then watch. But, it definitely doesn’t have the magic of the first season, and what I’ve seen so far, it’s already been done and done better in the other Nordic series shown on international TV channels.

share Honestly the two things I liked about episode 1 is the opening song and the setting - I love an isolated town during a winter storm . That’s all I liked though - the rest was like grade c generic meh. There were a few times I cringed
I finished the first episode of S4 and don't think ill be watching anymore. Cliche, boring woke nonsense with annoying characters.
share My family are true detective fans and my mom watched it a day before me. I asked her how it was and she gave me a foul look that said everything but I thought she was just being negative .. so I watched episode 1 last night and I liked the setup and setting - reminds of the Thing . Problem is, Foster and the other cop are not giving good performances . I’m shocked to say this about Foster as she’s a great actress but here she is weak. Then you have the supporting characters which are shaky at times. As for the weird folklore mystery story - so far it is cringe level bad. The scene with the older guy doing strange motions out in the snow had me laughing out loud.
I’m very disappointed so far but hopefully it will pick up a bit but I’m afraid it’s going to go deep into Indian folklore and I’m going to end up completely disinterested
