Hits all the right targets
This film satirises the publishing industry for its fixation with ghetto porn ie single mothers, gangsters, gangs and poverty. Black victimhood sells as 'novelist' Stagg R Leigh discovers.
That is the 'real' story of Black America. Needless to say the executives are all white. Equally as guilty are the Black writers who are more than willing to write books that pander to these stereotypes like Sintara Golden, who is from a middle class background. The scene when she reads from her book and is applauded by a mainly white audience is amusing. Hollywood buys the rights to books like this so that it can produce the next Menace to Society or New Jack City.
