Chloë Sevigny should have played Frances

I don't know if Chloë Sevigny actually auditioned for the role, probably not, but does anyone else think that she would be perfect for it and a much better fit than Greta Gerwig?

The character is 27 and Chloe is a bit older.

Sevigny is 40, and since the script is very specifically about someone in their mid-20s, I'm not sure how that would work...

Too old. Besides, Chloe played this kind of role in LAST DAYS OF DISCO.

I don't think the roles were similar at all, unless you mean "someone in their 20s"..... what other similarities did you find?

reply

Well, 'SHELEMM', both were manipulated, inhibited, and in search of approval by their so-called, pretentious friends and peers. As a result, it took a long time for the characters to become independent individuals, confident enough to think for themselves, and stand on their own two feet. Although in LDOD, Chloe realized this sooner than Frances's character.

Don't get me wrong, both films were quite good at telling their stories, and I enjoyed them.

Greta was perfect for the role so no.

Chloe is way too old to play a floundering 20-something.

Chloe would of been perfect for the film had it been made 11 years ago when she was the right age. As others have said she's almost 40 now. I also think that Chloe's character in Last Days of Disco wasn't as outgoing or zealous as Frances, she was more demure and shy - always in the shadow of her obnoxiously pretentious "look at me!" friends. But they were definitely similar.

Well put. I would like to see Chloe in a Noah B. film though.

not at all. she would have been far too melancholy.
