The scene involving the letter in the cabin (Spoilers)

At one point, she's in her cabin talking to her mother. She sees a figure outside, and when she goes out there, she sees Longlegs inside. She runs back in, the home is empty, and there's the letter

My question is ... did Longlegs actually go there and put the letter on her desk? She's talking to her mother on the phone, so her mother wasn't the one who put the letter there. How did Longlegs manage to get in and out so quickly? It's like he disappeared, no?

Or did Longlegs use some Satanic supernatural power to get the letter there?

And why did Agent Harker not tell Blair Underwood about this incident? And how could Agent Harker possibly go to sleep that night?

reply

My guess it was him. She left the door wide open.

I would have moved after that.

Not sure if it is or isn't related, but they did tell us that the Doll that represented Agent Harker had some control over her, causing her to not remember and not see things that were happening in front of her. I assume that longlegs was around her or in close proximity to her often, and her "gift" was never able to tip her off to what was going on.

Again, more of a theory then an actual answer to your question.

Yeah - since making this thread, I’ve thought about this movie more. The mother’s exposition at the end says that the doll makes sure that Lee fails to see what they don’t want her to see. The doll is why she didn’t remember seeing Longlegs as a child, why she didn’t know she had a picture of him, and why she didn’t know he made the dolls in her mother’s basement. My guess is that the doll allowed Longlegs to enter and exit her cabin that way

She's has an outstanding sense of deduction and intuition yet she leaves her fucking door open after seeing seeing someone watching her through the window. Huge plot hole.

reply

Not a plot hole you dumb fucking idiot

reply

Just nonsense then. Happy now, smart ass?

reply

She doesn't actually have an outstanding sense of deduction and intuition though. The devil and the doll are what allow her to pick the answer in the FBI interrogation room and the house where the murderer is at. The doll causes her to not notice Longlegs outside or how he got in the house and left the letter.
