Is this police behaviour for real??

Guys, i am from Greece and have never visited the U.S. but i have a quick question about a fact in the movie that shocked me. Is this police behaviour usual? Would they ever behave to people like that even after a fight has broken? Apart from the shot, the fact that they punched and held them there without even having witnessed what happened is absolutely beyond me.

To the OP.

The film is based on a real life incident and people filmed the footage on their mobile phones. What do you think?

It's that man again!!

I'll keep this short and to the point, I'm a female in Wyoming USA, and my experience with police officers is YES, there are more cases than not of exteeam violence and force. Greece is way more beautiful . wish I were Greek.

I live in a small Chicago suburb with very little crime, and about half the cops around here are still condescending asses. Yes, there are good cops, but as another poster pointed out, there should be adequate screening processes to ensure the bad apples don't get the job in the first place.

The frustrating thing is, change CAN be affected; most of the time, it just isn't. I was reading about how the police captain (I think) in Dallas actually took action and fired several police officers after receiving reports against them, and complaints of police brutality dropped significantly. If precincts everywhere took note and did the same, maybe cops would start to be seen as servants of the public once more rather than as bullies with badges.

Here in New York, which has the largest police force in the world, I can tell you that not ALL cops are d1cks. Yes some are a-holes, and depending on where you live and how you present yourself they will treat you different. If you're a well dressed, well spoken black man you'll be treated better then a white kid wearing a hoody smoking black-and-milds.

If you live in the hood then the cops will probably act differently then if you live in the suburbs. But by no means are cops overall a-holes. Most people have their own personal views based on the small area they live in and a few precincts of local cops they have run into. That doesn't represent the total american police force.

Go talk to a cop in Oakland California then go talk to one in some rural mid-western town and you'll see how different they can be.

In Long Island cops are paid over $100,000 (the highest in the country) in order to attract the most seasoned officers. They tend to be much more respectful because they have WAY more to lose if they are fired or have their record tainted. Cops making $30,000 in nowhere, mid-west could probably care less.

TL:DR depending where you live and who you are will decide your view of cops. Overall, in America as a whole they are equally good and bad. Just that the media isn't going to make movies about cops saving babies. It isn't as interesting as racist cops shooting minorities. It the same all over the world...

There is good and bad with everyone. To judge all police by a few bad is just as bad as judging all races by a few bad ones is just as wrong.
