Beautiful period production design, thoughtful story, rich character development, and terrifying monster action. Awesome from beginning to end.

It took itself seriously, in a good way. I probably wouldn't say best Godzilla movie ever, but it is great.

Depends on what type of story/mood you are looking for. They do exist.

I enjoyed the period production. I don't think I had yet to see any depiction on post-WW2 Japan.

I thought it was a missed opportunity. I was hoping to see Godzilla part of the Japanese Empire during WW2 as it attacks and destroys Southeast Asia in Japans thirst for conquest

Your opinion, and you are entitled to it. Personally I loved it. I was underwhelmed with Shin Godzilla. It was too bureaucratic for my taste.

But what did you think about Godzilla vs Megalon? The Seatopians were mad at the people of Earth and Megalon was tough and even had help from Gigan who came in from outer space
