I intentionally avoided reading about the new Alien film, but after watching the trailer, I've got to say I'm surprised they got James Franco (of all people) to be in this film. Okay, the surprise could have been far worse if someone like Kristen Stewart was in the film (God forbid!)....but seriously...James Franco....in Alien????? π
I agree! The look and feel of the trailer was great but between James Franco and the choking spoof I'm feeling a little put off. At the moment the only thing appealing to me about it is Fassbender.
Yes, thank God for Fassbender. And I hope Noomi Rapace shows up early on in the film too. Although I'm starting to think she'll show up towards the end of it, of course holding the other Fassbender (well his head anyway). Could there be 2 Fassbenders in Covenant? I'm starting to think so.
Didn't see it. I've seen scenes in youtube, and he does seem good though. BTW I saw Milk because of Sean Penn, and was surprised to like Franco in that role. I think he's a fine actor, I just don't like 'him'. You know how there's some actors who you don't get excited about when you hear he/she is in a new film? Well James Franco falls in that category for me. They are neither here nor there. I would watch the film 'in spite' of him but he's not 'enough' for me to see a film. Other actors, just them being in it is good enough excuse to see the film. For example, Jake Gyllenhaal. I like most of his films, maybe because he chooses his roles carefully. I also like most films with Ben Foster, Paul Dano, Elisabeth Moss and Brit Marling. But let's not digress. π
I know what you mean. For me Angelina Jolie is one of 'those'. There's plenty of movies that I like where she's in, but something about her puts me off.
Jake Gyllenhaal and Ben Foster I'd put among my favourite actors. Like you said Gyllenhaal seems to pick his roles carefully. I can't think of a movie that I didn't like where he is in. Prisoners really put him on the map for me. As a scifi fan I'm really looking forward to 'Life'. I hope it delivers. And in 'Hell or High Water' Foster was just amazing.
Yes Gyllenhaal was great in Prisoners, but "Brokeback Mountain" put him on the map for me.
I agree that Ben Foster is terrific in "Hell or High Water". He' s been great in so many roles. Did you see "360", with Anthony Hopkins? My favourite story was the one with Ben Foster.
Yeah I'm looking forward to "Life" too. What's not to look forward to...a sci fi with Ben Foster. π
I'll try to check out 127 hours this weekend. Let's see ho it goes.
BTW, Angelina Jolie is also one of 'those' for me too. Actually, the list is too long to write down here....lol.
He doesn't really bother me. I actually like him in some roles like Rise of the Planet of the Apes.
If it makes anyone feel better, he looks like he has a human expiration date coming up soon, judging by this Prologue clip. You likely won't have to look at him for much longer.
I know, right? I like him in comedies, but I can't take him seriously in other roles. Not that I have high hopes for the film itself, so I'm looking forward to be pleasantly surprised by both.
Yes I hope I'm pleasantly surprised by his performance. Like I said before, it's not that he's a bad actor, it's just that he's just so 'James Franco' that it's hard for me to see him as somebody else. I've avoided his comedies like the plague. I hate that kind of humour anyway.
I know, KS is one of the worst of her generation imo.
As for Franco, yeah okay, I'll be open minded and won't judge until I see him in the film. He'll probably die quickly anyway! You guys are convincing me.....lol.
