Don't understand what's with the hateful comments?

This movie was fresh and not over the top si-fi
I hate super space movies. This 1 was simple to understand and enjoyable.
I loved the twists and didn't see some of them coming.

Ex
Army crew being "the Others"

This was good in my opinion.

Don't understand what's with the whiners who hate hateful comments. What ever happen to freedom to express an opinion? Since when was hating something you didn't like bad? The movie was a dud, sorry to make you whiners upset, but that's life, get some therapy.

Just saw it. I thought it was pretty good for what it was. I hope they plan on making a 2nd movie and not leave us hanging.

Because it was a terrible pile of *beep* designed to appeal to 13 year old girls. I mean it really stank. The writers should never work in the industry again.

Nothing inherently wrong with making a movie for 13 year old girls, on the whole prefer to have a movie aimed for a particular sub section rather then a bland movie trying to please everyone.

And calling this "really stank" is to me exaggerated sure it might not be great but its as far from terrible as it is great, average id call it.

If you don't expect much from it think its a ok way to pass 1h of your life doubt youll end up waking in the night regretting that hour lost.

Oh no, people have different opinions! Let's call them haters, that'll show them. Grow up.

The story is cliché as F. It's one gigantic trope-fest. None of it is new. All of it has been done before. Some of the "plot" (and I feel dirty for calling this garbage that) makes zero sense (For example: what's with the really young kids being soldiers? They can barely lift a rifle.)

Even the worst episode of Star Trek Voyager is better than this, and Voyager was a galaxy size cluster-F.

And it's one huge waste of Moretz's skills and talent. Sadly not the first time she got stuck with a turd. In that movie with Washington her talents were literal pearls before swines. The girl is good, she deserves better roles than such trope-laden dribble.

Also, how is it "young adult" when the heroine is 15?

And don't make me start on the books. Apparently they have been praised to "do for aliens what Twilight did for vampires". That means, after this garbage is done, sci-fi will be in coma, if not brain dead.

When this trash is over we're going to be stuck with sci-fi fans who want a level of cliché and trope that makes George Lucas's writing look genius and Jar-Jar Binks will be hailed as a great character.
