So Jonah Hill punching a girl is funny because????
In the trailer they show Jonah Hill punching a girl as hard as he can. I'm no feminist but that clearly was not funny. Why is it suddenly ok for this to be a joke?

shareI got my ass kicked by a girl in 8th grade. Im sure I weighed maybe 10-15lbs more than her (most of her weight was in her boobs for sure.) But there. Yes, she was strong... granted, I didnt fight back... but I WILL say just for the sake of argument:
While men shouldn't be hitting ladies... Ladies can actually handle themselves pretty well, like the woman in this movie.
All in all... should anyone really be hitting anyone? It's not a one way street people. Let's all be nice.

What is everyone's thought on Hermione punching Draco in the Prisoner of Azkaban, just because Draco was laughing around @ Hagrid's misery.
I go with Funny in the book, and sexy in the movies !
Was it meant to be funny? I just remember the woman verbally begging him to punch her and treat her like an "equal" and calling him a pussy when he threw weak punches... maybe that was the funny part?
The female character is seen as someone kind of extreme and a little crazy, she found the large gun battle they were caught in to be boring because no one was getting shot, she shot someone in the foot without flinching, she held up pretty well in the rough fight with Jonah's character
Equal opportunity!
shareEddie Murphy got into a fistfight in Harlem Nights too.
That was pretty much the end of Eddie's period of A List box office domination.

Violence against defenseless women is no laughing matter, however this scene wasn't condoning that whatsoever. She was punching him in the face and verbally taunting him to punch her back. He was even saying he wouldn't fight a girl but she just kept at it until he didn't have a choice anymore. Also, she appeared to be stronger and a much better fighter than he was. Writing about it doesn't do it justice, the scene was really funny.

Easy man, I was rebutting the OP on this one and agreeing that the scene was wickedly funny!

Why would it be funny to see him punch ANYONE as hard as he can?
It's either acceptable comedy or it's not. Keep your gender-studies theses paper out of it.
