Attn: Netflix users

I know that there has been alot of talk about how countless plot summaries of Contracted have incorrectly said that Samantha had a "one night stand" instead of the reality that she was raped. Unfortunately, Netflix is among the guilty parties (for lack of a better term), but there is something we can do to alert the company about it.

If you haven't done so already (and I hope many of you already have), go to the main page for Contracted and locate the "report a problem" link below the poster image. A form then will pop up with a series of problem types; select the one that says "wrong or missing summary" and then there's a space below for further explanation.

I first reported this problem a few days ago, and I haven't heard anything from Netflix nor have any changes been made. I understand that solving problems takes time, but you would think this would be an easy fix. Either way, I'm hoping that if more people report this problem, that will move it up in terms of priority.

I just noticed this movie on Netflix. I don't think I'll bother watching it, but wanted you folks to know they've fixed the summary.

It now says, "Binge drinking, date rape and a hangover. Now something's really eating at her...and the nightmare is just beginning.

Congratulations on getting that fixed!

As of today, Nov. 23, it still says, "After a one-night-stand, a young woman..."

Someone on here posted on Nov. 16 that it had been changed; don't know if they were lying or not but I contacted Netflix a few minutes ago. Always be vigilant.

I just told them it should not say, " a one night stand since that implies consensual sex." Technically, the rest is true.

reply

They say date rape in the short synopsis, but if you look at the longer version it still says one-night stand.

So it's...partially fixed?

reply

It's just a movie!

Show me the holes!

It wasn't CLEARLY rape and it wasn't CLEARLY not rape, but it is a frickin' fictional horror movie and it's not worth complaining to Netflix about so you can make some militant feminist point.

"Let be be finale of seem/ The only emperor is the Emperor of Ice Cream"

These people are goofy.
Throughout this thread, the feminist all-sex-is-rape crowd piles on claiming 2 ridiculous things (which aren't necessarily relevant to this movie scenario):

1) Having sex with a woman when she's been drinking is rape.
That's just silly, for obvious reasons. If a dude has been drinking, then sleeps with a woman he meets at a bar, you believe the woman should be prosecuted for rape? Because you can't have a double-standard here. Obviously someone can be so black-out wasted they can't consent to anything, and that's subjective unfortunately. If someone is incoherent or unconscious, yes they can't consent. But merely ingesting intoxicants (having a beer, smoking a joint) does automatically make someone a rape victim if they decide to have a roll in the hay.

2) Saying "we shouldn't do this" or "we should stop" means something is against that person's will.
Simply acknowledging out loud that what we are doing together is wrong or inappropriate is not communicating that the act is against someone's will. We willingly do things we "shouldn't be doing" or "should stop" all the time, we may even say it out loud, it's got nothing to do with consent.

Don't diminish what rape is, thus belittling the real victims, by including bullsh*t "victims" who simply regret making bad decisions.

I literally just wrote a review about this. This was not at all a one-night-stand. I made sure to quote the main character to demonstrate WHEN (not if) it was rape. She said, "We should stop... I'm serious... Please... Please." It also has to be made clear that this was rape because though she was moaning, moaning is a biological response that it not always induced by willingness.
