Should make the new Punisher movie like this one

Violent, gritty, honest, Death Wish-like, but true to the comics characters and situations (at least as true as possible). IMO, it is the best Punisher cinema interpretation to this day, although Lundgren's is kind of guilty pleasure so to say.

Couldn't agree more with it being the best cinematic punisher interpretation made so far.
Can only hope it pushes the subject of a Thomas Jane sequel and one is finally made!

CHEF: Goodbye!

Jane's passion for the Punisher shows through, and it reflects in the quality of this short. Given any other actor, they could have numbly executed the lines and ran the motions without care; it's just a short so why bother.

Thomas *beep* Jane shows why.

Tom Jane back as Frank? In any capacity that's awesome, this short didn't fall...flat. If he is greenlighted to do a sequel that could break the lousy streak of the films. That being said, Jane really needs the writing of a film, I know he knows the character, but needs to write the film around him. Also really needs Nicky Cavella and Barracuda.

"Nicky Cavella and Barracuda."

Couldn't agree more. I say get Ray liotta for Cavella

Put Frank Castle back in NY and have him be a Marine Recon vet from the 2nd Gulf War.

Garth Ennis should do the writing, Tom Jane should star and Gareth "The Raid" Evans should direct. Between that movie and this short, most of the summer blockbusters have had their asses comprehensively kicked.

Jane should def make another punisher film in the future he is awesome at it and he loves the character. I thinck if the fans made a enough noise he would make another film hopefully

So far, all Punisher movies have managed to mess up the Punisher.

All of them ESPCIALLY Punisher War Zone (who had Castle as a cop killer) and this short.

Yes, I found it to be well shot, acted...It captured the ugliness of the world Castle lives in, the action was brutal and cathartic.

But the portrayal of The Punisher does not sit well with me at all.

The Punisher, the scourge of the underworld, the man who doesn't belive in compromise, a man whose war started because of the loss of his wife and children, LETS a woman be assaulated, WATCHES a kid get roughed up, TAKES THE TIME to chat it up with the Ron Perlman character and THEN decides to do something.

I do not accept that portrayal of the character. I don't want it in my comics, and I am not interested in Punisher being shown as an apathetic man when witnessing evil.

I am fully aware of how Mr Jane "explained" this...But I STILL don't care for that kind of portrayal. I posted on the RAW boards to give my point of view to Mr Jane himself. I'm not important, I'm just another nameless, faceless geek, but I am longtime fan (20 years) of The Punisher.

Anyone who has read Punisher comics for a while,as in BEFORE ENNIS MAX, knows that Castle is as much about protecting the innocent as he is about Punishing the guilty. Since Ennis, writers (and recently movie makers) want to show Castle as a murderer with an excuse, not a soldier with a cause.

Brutal violence and gore and ugliness are not ENOUGH by themselves to make a good Punisher story.

It might not be a true interpretation most of the fanboys want, but it was extremely well-made nonetheless. I don't consider myself a Punisher-geek, since I really don't like the original Marvels stories or the crossover editions involving other characters of the Marvel Universe. But I absolutely love the version Garth Ennis depicted of the Punisher.
As for the movies : I didn't like the one with Dolph Lundgren, I though the one with Thomas Jane was watchable but has a lot of flaws( the scenes with Mark Collie were pretty awesome in my opinion) and I really liked Punisher : War Zone for all its balls-to-the-walls violence.
Dirty Laundry was awesome as a short. Maybe not the depiction of Frank Castle most of us know about, but Jane and Perlman were great as always and the guy who plays the main gang leader also deserves a mention, because he was great and oozed of menace.

Absolutely, I only stumbled upon this by accident but can now think of nothing else. Absolutely brilliant!

Dating back to the Lungdren version, I’ve never really taken to The Punisher – despite its obvious potential. Janes interpretation I must say felt about right for me. The movie overall wasn’t perfect, however I enjoyed his performance enough to want to keep re-watching it over the years. If there were to make a sequel along these lines then I think there would be a lot of satisfied movie goers out there.

Please movie studios, please someone pick this up. In an ideal world I would love to see HBO take this on as a series.

Agree 100%.
This short was brilliant.
I started watching this on youtube, expecting to shut it off after 30 seconds. As the minutes passed by I couldnt switch the thing off. Before I knew it, the 10 minutes was up and the movie was over.

I want more.
