This could be an epic movie or a dud. What are your thoughts?
shareThis will be a dud. Spider-Man, Planet of the Apes and Pirates should still be pretty strong when this releases. Then you have Alien on the otherside of the sandwich.

I think no one of them.
I don't think that Besson si really into sf because of the esoteric potential nor the very epic part.
He is into that for awesomeness.
Spaceships, Aliens, worlds, he likes it because it's genuily fun.
Remember the 5th element, and the fact that Besson describes it as a Mr ans Ms Smith in space.
All of his screenplay are usually quite simple and straight to the point.
If you read Ambassador of the Shadows, the Valerian adventure Besson took to write this movie, it's a basic hostage/missing story.
Valerian and Laureline have to carry an earth ambassador to Point Central (Alpha in the movie), for a kind of United Nation of Universe meeting, and he is taken by the bas guys. So Valerian and Laureline to accross the whole station species and would to find him back. Having a lot of struggles on their way.
That's all.
For the movie it looks like he has develloped it a bit for a two hours movie, but he told that the all story feet in 48 hours.
Im tired of star wars and star trek I want sometime different Im a fan of the books of Valerian I have the collection Im going to see it

What's missing in movies is same as in society: a good sense of work ethic and living up to ideals.
I think it´ll be crazier and campier 5th element...I don´t think it´ll reach anywhere near it but in the same league definitely
