IMO, the worst movie ever... Let me elaborate.

I don't write a lot here, as I believe there are much smarter and more eloquent people who can give better reviews of the movies. But I felt compelled after watching this catastrophy of a movie. I can see why it is so popular - it ticks all the boxes with the dialogues and the situations characters are put in, for a romantic movie. Problem is, they all seem like they are shoved down your throat, with no subtlety, or even intelligence. I could not believe that the director, or the actors for that fact, thought that what they were doing would look and sound good, and believable, for us viewers. Male lead - totally miscast. He looks like a 16 year old kid, and there was absolutely no chemistry whatsoever between him and R. McAdams at any point of the movie. Everything seemed so rushed, out of place, not one situation seemed natural. R. McAdams seemed so plastic, usually I like her in such movies (I've seen the Notebook and the Vow, and I watch many of the movies like this, so it's not like I hate the genre). It seemed like she was trying so much to be this likable, innocent, a bit goofy girl, with a big smile, "look at me, I'm so nice and everybody should like me", that it was extremely irritating and not natural at all. I honestly doubt that she can really act, outside of movies like this. It seems like she is not even trying any more. The situations they went through, the proposal, all the efforts from the guy, it all seemed so rushed and again, not natural, with no chemistry, that it seemed like a generic movie with no soul, like they wanted to put great locations, dialogues that just seemed smart and actors that all would like, and mix it up in this horrible, horrible mix that should be a movie. It's like some music these days - generic, like being made by a computer algorithm in which you put some characteristics in and then you have a new hit that masses will like, and it will top the charts for couple of weeks, and then it will dissapear forever. Terrible, just terrible. And why I say it's the worst ever? Of course, there are many who could fit that description. But since they had a huge budget for this, it is an embarrasment with what they came up with. The director, the writer(s), and the actors. So here are my two cents on the movie, hope I don't get bashed too much but it is my opinion, and if you don't like it, hey, were all entitled to have one. Cheers.

It is sad how people have been numbed by bad rom-coms and bad action movies that when a truly unique, simple and wonderful gem is in front of them, they can't distinguish it from the rest of the crap.Quite sad.

Don't get me wrong, I'm fine with your opinion and you do have valid points, but calling it the worst movie ever? No way. Not even close.

reply

Yeah, what ^^^ this person said. I also agreed with a lot of the OP sentiment and my personal rating of this movie was a 4/10 but not the worst movie I've ever seen by far. Just the worst movie I've seen in quite a few months.

1/10 would not read

Obviously the thousands who rated it higher are dumber than the OP with this DB post. It doesn't matter what movie you investigate on IMDB, there is always some fvcktard that wants everyone to know how brilliant he is and that his intelligence quotient is much too high for the movie -- and as such, it's bad. Even worse are the fags that complain about his INTERNET post not having paragraphs. Get out of mom's basement morons.

reply

Why does it make someone a "fag" for wanting to read something which is properly written and not just one big mass of words? Writing everything you want to say in one long, massive paragraph, just makes you look like a thick moron, and so why should anyone care about the OP's worthless opinion.

Worthless opinion? Hell yes. Anyone who thinks this is the worst movie ever made has clearly only seen two films, this being one of them, and has also clearly never seen anything on the Syfy channel.

As for saying that the lead actor (Gleeson) looks 16, what a ridiculous comment. Sure, he doesn't look particularly old, but 16? Get real. He is 30, McAdams is 35, so the age difference is not exacly huge.

For sure, this wasn't the best film ever made, but I still really enjoyed it and would give it 7 out of 10. I suppose though, that if you don't like the romanticism or sentimentality of Richard Curtis films, then this probably won't be for you.

What the OP clearly missed was that there were two love stories going on in this film - the lesser one, between Tim and Mary, and the one between Tim and his father.

I would give the OP a few recommendations to prove that this was nowhere near the worst film ever made (Sharknado, The Tree of Life, DayWatch, Tactical Force just for starters), but as he hasn't made any other posts on this topic since he started it over a month ago, they would be wasted on him.

I actually liked this movie. It had a little bit of everything.
Don't normally watch these types of movies, but I'm glad I saw this one.

i'm just gonna go ahead and say that you're dead wrong.

This is a very good movie. Your opinion sucks.

reply

sagarcse_06 - I totally agree with you.

I agree with most of what you said, but I would say it's a mediocre movie, not the worst.

And, as you might notice, I watch True Detective now and I read Ligotti's (pessimist, nihilist if you will) works so feel good, positive movies don't work for me at the moment.

So what is your second worst film
