Am I honestly the only one who liked this movie?
sure it was cheesy, and it had a lot of problems within itself but why all the hate?
Over all I give it a 7/10...the chase scenes were cool...thats about it.

I thought it was okay. I wasn't expecting a lot out of it, but it turned out a little better than I thought it would. The director's not great at filming car chases, but at least there were a lot of 'em (and I'm a car chase junkie -- I'll sit through damn near anything if there are car chases). The car was ridiculously indestructable and the plot was implausible, but, that's B movies for ya. So, I liked it all right. No classic or anything, but it didn't bore me and it was decent for what it was.
shareThe plot is dreadful, I mean really bad but I thought it was an ok film. Plenty of action, I'd give it 5/10. I have seen a lot, lot worse
shareIt was good. It's not a particularly intelligent film, but it managed to provide us with some good, loud, dumb fun regardless. Raw entertainment value, sometimes that's all a movie needs to deliver, and Getaway is definitely one of those films.
It's actually pretty sad that Getaway was made in the 21st century. I'm sure that back in the 1980's it would've been received far better by the old time audiences who grew up watching such vehicle stunt extravaganzas like the Cannonball Run, the Blues Brothers, the Wraith and Knight Rider. All movies or TV-shows that featured over-the-top unrealistic stunts, but were well loved regardless because people appreciated them for the entertainment and fun they provided. Audiences today have developed such unbelievably bad tastes.
I agree with you, I LOVED this movie! Don't get me wrong, Selena Gomez's character SERIOUSLY started getting on my nerves after awhile, but...I mean, if you like movies like the Fast and the Furious movies and Need for Speed...how can you NOT like this movie?!?!? I can't tell you how many times I sat there with my kaw on the ground like Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?!?!!? I couldn't believe how crazy the car chase scenes were!!!! 10 out of 10 in my book!!!
shareI enjoyed it - it's pretty much a cross between the best aspects of the ORIGINAL "Gone in 60 Seconds" and the ORIGINAL "Italian Job".
I wish Toby Halicki (producer, director, stunt co-ordinator, star and main stunt driver on the original "60 Seconds") could have lived to see this.
It ain't much as a film, but it's fun to watch.
