Will it be woke ??
And therfore garbage !
shareBeside it being very girl heavy, it is not. I watched Afterlife 2 month ago and TOTALLY forgot about the girl called Lucky, but somehow the movie made her also happening, I would be not even sure, if she has more screentime as Finn Wolfhard. Also Emily Alyn Lind got a new role as friend of Mckenna Grace. The friendship was imo a bit too awkward written, but it is like this, so the story can happen. But this is I think Jason Reitman/Gil Kenan (less likely) being overestimating his talend.
shareI read Emily Alyn Lind's relationship with Phoebe is "queer coded". Is that true or just some lesbian projecting?
shareIt can be interpret like that, but Mckenna Grace is alone and searching for someone who understands her. Emily Alyn Lind is supposed to be that person. But yes, it was so awkward written, that I wouldn't be surprised, if they cut that shit out. It is not that I would have a problem with such, but it was as much tacked on as the relationship in the last movie. And Mckenna Grace definitely is not yet emotionally ready for a relationship, same as her sidekick Logan Kim.
That's why there is no reason to project anything more as normal bestie friendship in this relationship.
The implication that Phoebe was romantically interested in Emily Alyn Lind's character seemed very clear to me. I mean, there is plausible deniability of course, for the Chinese and the Arab markets, but I have little doubt that the intention was for the audience to think "lesbian teenagers".
shareI came here to see if anyone else got lesbian vibes like I did. The Conversation they have when they first met playing chess completely took me out of the movie. It was so contrived and awkward. Then when they became two ghosts together, they were almost kissing their heads were so close together! I mean their lips were like maybe 1 foot away from each other. It seemed pretty obvious to me, but again I came here to see if I was crazy or if anybody else caught the same thing that I did.
sharehave you seen the trailer? they shoved a black girl with braids in there. of course its woke. its 2024. nothing is UN-WOKE in our time.
and anyone who tell you otherwise lie to you
the previous movie was woke as hell in auddition to being memberbery trash with that annoying nerdy marry sue girl
OMG, Black People! Did they free the slaves or something?
shareA BLACK GIRL?...THAT'S ALL IT TAKES?...WOW.
shareThe black girl with braids was already the love interest in the first reboot. I also forgot her, but it's not like she was introduced for this movie.
shareDont be a fucking idiot, Macken. There's no "woke" jokes in the movie. I saw the movie at the theater earlier today and the movie is really good.
Yes, moody teen girl crushes on teen girl ghost. Other parts were fun, but the main character's attitude, creepy crush, and the muted tones, brought the whole thing down.
