Does this really deserve merely an 5,6?

Yes, it's corny, has its cliches and Josh Gad is annoying, but it's not like there are no redeeming qualities.
Visual effects are great, Peter Dinklage was great in the role and Chris Columbus really adds a certain charm to the movie
Should be 6,3 - 6,6 IMO.

I give it a 7/10.

Plus it doesn't take itself seriously, unlike some other alien invasion-type debacles.

That Pacman scene was some great effects

Clark: Jonathan Kent; isn't it a little past your bedtime?

reply

Yeah, I really don't understand when this is a 1 for some people. Even if everything doesn't work for you, it's still an eye candy. It wasn't more than a 6 for me, but seriously...

reply

That's why it gets five stars instead of one.

I thought it was pretty decent, a lot better than I expected! It entertained me, I chuckled quite a bit, it brought a smile to my face regularly. I'd give it a 7.

reply

I found it completely harmless, and nowhere NEAR as bad as some people have made it out to be. If anything, the video game aspect is a bit too underplayed... but that was about the only stand-out flaw I saw with the movie.

I gave it a solid 7/10.

reply

It deserves less.

It's that man again!!

reply

A good enough comedy, there were some laughing scenes, and the effects are great.

7/10

reply

I fully agree w/ you - there were some burst-out-laughing scenes. I gave it a 7/10.
