I'm not saying it is a copy, re-make or something like that, but the visuals are very much like FF: The Spirits Within, and the storyline is ... π almost the same. Yes, I got all that from the trailer - so I'm most likely wrong, but still, can't shake that feeling. (It don't have to be a bad thing either!) Does anyone else see/feels the same? Still, when it comes to sci-fi I'm going to see it just because it's sci-fi! π
I haven't logged into IMDB in nine years, but I came here specifically for this reason and you had already posted it. Yes, the visuals are strikingly similar; the plot so far seems even thinner though.
Actually I had the same thoughts as well upon seeing the trailer, and after watching the movie it still kind of held true. Both are about military and science forces trying to survive and fend off an agressive force of supernatural entities that are transparent and can't be seen some of the time, can phase through stuff, can't be killed or harmed with conventional weapons, and kill you if they touch you. FF jsut has a more futuristic/space type feel to it and little change in the story at the end but overall tehy are very similar.
When I was watching the trailer, Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, was the first thing I thought of. Sure it wasn't the same thing. (I have noticed that pointing out the similarity, seems to really upset some folk on here)
And there was a touch of Aliens in there, too.
I know there hasn't been an original idea in Hollywood for decades, but it's still cool when you can take aspects of different movies and shows and remake them into a really good movie.
When they found the iron circle keeping the ghosts out of the building, I had my fingers crossed that Sam and Dean where going to come in and save the day....
Yeah the first thing that actually popped up in my mind when reading what the movie was about before watching it was actually Final Fantasy The Spirits Within, sure its cool to see a remodd of it, but what i dont get is why dont they just dust bomb the city with iron ? locking all the "Spectrals" down ? Good movie thou works fine to watch, it has some tense to it which I like better then alot of "Buffed with cash" movies out there.
Yep, I got the same vibe on occasion. I liked both movies, but I was most impressed with the cases of in-betweeners in "Spectral". I didn't see that one coming.
