Why is this movie at a 4.5/10

When transformers is at like 6.8?!?!? It's alright, it's not terrible! Grown ups 2 was a BILLION times worse, and it's higher than 5!

Shes not funny

This absolutely was a terrible movie. Grown Ups 2 at least had a couple laughs, 5/10 for that one. This one is 2/10... No charisma between the characters, pretty piss poor dialogue all over the place. Their epic road trip was pretty short on locals.

The acting by everyone was fine, it's just their lines were really terrible.

This is supposed to be one of those feel good movies I think, but it was just a pile of garbage and the only feeling that it left me was that I wasted my money.

Because people who hate her are rating it without seeing the film. Any intelligent person who saw the trailer, and dislikes this kind of comedy, would not go see it. Those intelligent people would also not act like 12 year olds and rate it low just "because" and they also would not come on here calling her names.

Our society is full of immature babies.

Always be yourself. Unless you can be Batcatt, then always be Batcatt.

Uh oh, 4.7/10 now, I must admit, if people on here slate a film, they are, so far, quite correct, even films I was prepared to give a chance "After Earth" for example (yeah, I know, I know) was without doubt terrible. And that made 5/10! I will wait till its on the movie channels and not waste my money.

Thanks, guys.

Just watched this movie (for free), and NO WAY was it as bad as any of the recent Adam Sandler fare. Like those, "Tammy" is far from high art. But I actually laughed out loud several times. I didn't once during any of the last few Sandler movies. And I like him. I just think he's in a creative rut.

reply

It's because you watched it for free. Whether you like it or not, the movie did not mean much at all to you because you have invested nothing but about an hour of your day. If you paid $10+ for a single movie ticket at a specific time for a theater that may or may not be shoulder to shoulder, you would have a stronger opinion about the movie. You claimed that this movie was in 'NO WAY as bad as any of the recent Adam Sandler fares;' however, I'd be willing to bet you would wholeheartedly agree with all the rash imdb users in this thread.

Personally, I would give this movie a rating of a 3 simply because it's crap, but it's "watchable." There was nothing in the movie that made me want to care. It was just another movie made to milk easy cash out of regular movie-goers.

It's because of movies like this that I do not go to cinemas any more.

You said "I'd be willing to bet you would wholeheartedly agree with all the rash imdb users in this thread." I'm not sure I understand. What rash imdb users in this thread, and what would I agree with? Also, I see a lot of movies for free. Doesn't make them mean less or more to me. Now, if you asked me "Is 'Tammy' worth $10.00?", I'd say "No". But when I do go to the movies, I only do matinees. Because it's almost half the cost where I live. That said, I wouldn't have felt ripped off or hated this film had I paid $5.00 or $6.00 to see it. Or even paid a rental fee. It was just a dumb and mindless comedy. I knew exactly what I was getting into the moment I sat down to watch. I can enjoy a wide spectrum of movies. For example, my favorite comedy of the year is "The Grand Budapest Hotel". But sometimes I enjoy low brow too.

It deserves lower. I finished transformers even though it was 2 and half hours but I couldn't finish this unfunny cringeworthy monstrosity. McCarthy plays McCarthy as per usual and the rest is the epitome of boring.

reply

Well, the mostly female senior citizens I'll be showing movies for Friday night generally like Melissa, so I'll be showing Tammy after Jersey Boys and expect them to enjoy both movies.

Jersey Boys? You saw a good musical film before THIS CRAP?? It's like watching Gone With The Wind and then, Plan 9 from Outer Space.

The interesting thing is that the audience, aged 62+ women, liked it. I think there's an age factor involved with Mellissa McCarthy. Older women seem to understand her unique humor more than younger people do.

Even I as a mail although still very much a senior sort of see why women who've been many phases of life get something from Melissa that those whose haven't yet gone the full route miss.

grown ups 2 was genius no clue what your talking about, you dont appreciate good comedy.

reply

Yea, Grown Ups 2 was actually pretty funny and I liked it alot. Tammy was not very well written, not very funny. I wouldn't say it was terrible but the best I could give it was a 5/10. Most of the jokes werent funny enough to actually make me laugh. Very dull writing, unoriginal. Almost nothing new. The few times there was something interesting and that was funny was why I gave it a 5/10 and that was only a handful in the whole film. This film makes Adam Sandler look like Inarritu.

This is one of the worst movies ever made. And you know it from the opening scene, an exact rip off of the car singing scene in Identity Thief.

Oh and Susan Sarandon playing Alison Janney's mom - they are 13 years apart in age. And the hair was totally unbelievable.

Awful, awful, awful.
