If I hated Tree of Life will I hate this?
I like and can appreciate a pretty broad range of films but I really detested Tree of Life. Maybe I needed to watch it more than once but I barely could get through it the first time.

shareIt's a challenging but rewarding film imo, but if you hated Tree of Life, you'll hate this even more.
With Knight of Cups and To the Wonder, Malick is uncoiling himself and playing around with an even looser narrative, more silent and poetical imagery, and little to no script. Whatever you hated in Tree of Life is magnified in this film. I like the experimental direction he's taking, but I can see why many do not.
I believe his next film about the Southern music scene w/ Rooney Mara will return to a more traditional storyline (unless I've heard wrong).
Tree of Life was much better than this. If you couldn't watch "Tree of Life" stay away from this.
shareTough to tell which is worse The Tree of Life or Knight of Cups. I was being generous giving them both a 1, too bad that there was nothing lower.
Spoiler
Camera zooms in from the bathtub taps to the drain for 15 seconds, following a number of different people through the street with indeterminable dialog. Watching an airplane flying through the night sky. I hope that I didn't ruin these exciting parts for you.
Too bad a great cast like this was wasted on a horrible movie like this! The one true waste was having some artsy idiot director telling Freida Pinto to stop smiling on her modeling shoot. Who in their right mind would do that?
Didn't care for 'Tree of Life' either. 'KoC' was just released on blu-ray, and I'm understandably hesitant on pulling the trigger, as it appears to be several rungs down the Malick ladder from 'The New World', which featured sublime cinematography...
shareI'll give him an "A" on cinematography, however this is a film you will either love or hate. I'm in the latter category. I wanted to like it b/c of the cast, but fell asleep. The existential b.s. is getting old for me.
shareI think it's a bit worse than tree of life in some respects.
I saw it recently on tv.
I missed the beginning but after about 15 - 20 minutes I was bored stupid and thought to myself, "I wonder if this is a Terrence Malick film"?
Came here to check and sure enough.
I loved The Thin Red Line but that's about it.
Australia, Celebrating 25 Years of Electricity.
