Nicole Kidman?
What happened to Rachel Weisz??
I prefer Rachel to Nicole.
i prefer nicole, personally.
firth put her up for the role as he's wanted to work with her for years and was supposed to have on "stoker", which he regrettably had to pull out of a few months before filming.
"they should give nicole kidman an oscar for being able to show any emotion after THAT much botox".

I'm happy for you, by the way, its a nothing role, so it will suit her well.

kidman was deemed too old to play "the constant gardener"- i couldn't personally see her play that character anyway, and weisz gave us some stunning work there.
i didn't explain myself badly, you just saw that i was a kidman fan and decided to take what i had to say offensively.

You really should get medical help.
My goodness.
Has someone forgotten to take his pills or taken too much!
What is a lie?
That Colin Firth personally asked Nicole Kidman to replace Rachel Weiz after Rachel pulled out? Which is the lie?
Goodness gracious!
Get medical help.
I thought Nicole was perfect in that role and the movie; very authentic. Maybe it's her British Empire background, but she seemed like the sort of person who would have married this man and borne up with his challenges. Rachel is too emotionally florid and exotic-looking to play this kind of role. She would have been a distraction. I like both actresses, but this part played to Nicole's strong points, the sort of restrained emotionality that I associate with a "well-bred" British woman of that era. Yes, I'm stereotyping, but it just felt right to me. I really like her with less glamour and makeup. Her real beauty shines through. I wish people would stop going on about Botox. If there is a single actress in Hollywood that doesn't get it, I'd like to know who, and it improves their overall appearance dramatically.
shareI think Rachel Weicz had to pull out for some re-filming on one/some of her recent films. Also she wants to concentrate on promoting a film that is due to be released. I am not familiar with her films so I don't know what she has due. Of course perhaps Daniel didn't want her to have any romantic scenes with Colin Firth LOL.

I definitely prefer Nicole Kidman.
She's got a few wonderful juicy films coming up, like The Paperboy and Stoker.
Even Colin Firth chose Nicole after Rachel dropped out.

Nicole can't make any expressions. I found her performance really generic....she is so overrated. Luckily, the movie is really carried by the story, and not her acting.
shareI thought she was really good in the part - to be honest I was surprised how good. It's a very low key, non-dramatic role that had to be strong and subtle enough to get the story rolling and also allow Firth to be something other than embittered/angry/damaged. I thought she absolutely nailed it.
shareyes, Nicole was perfect in this small role, good chemistry and they seem like they would be a couple in real life the way she looked as the character, great casting. Yes, she can be miscast sometimes but this wasn't one of those times.
