why the change from handheld view of the first movie to the sequel being a regular horror movie?

While the sequel is pretty good, why did they change from the first person handheld cam view of the first movie to the sequel being a regular horror movie?

Didn't know they did that here. I've seen it happen before, I think it was The Gallows/The Gallows II.
