In chronological order:
The Lost Moment(1947):shows that just being old is enough to terrify, never laughed at "Bewitched" after seeing this
Night of the Demon(1957):wonderful film adaptation of the supernatural by Tourneur, sure that it was an inspiration for The X Factor tv series
Alien(1979): was fortunate to be in the first cinema audience to see the film in the UK. The title was clearly a clue to the plot, but other than that...
The Thing(1982):Carpenter never let up from start to finish with the shocks. Using the isolation premise of the original and turning it into a where-is-it now chiller was a masterstroke
The Grudge(2004): the last cinema film I saw that truly scared the LD out of me, check that, not just me.
