Americans don't understand this type of movie
All they want are happy endings, life isn't always like that, we need this in life and learn to live with it to be better.

shareAnd all you want is to be fabulous like Americans. You know its true. You don't like this just cuz you can't get with this. Mmm-hmm.
shareOP:
*beep* You.
"This signature really brings the room together, Does It Not?"
I'm ok with movies that have sad evenings. What I'm not ok with is movies that have stupid endings or stupid story lines for that matter.
I'm English, and I didn't like this film.
share"All they want are happy endings...": Well, most people do want a good life, so yeah, we usually prefer happy endings in films IF it makes sense.
"...life isn't always like that, we need to...learn to live with it...": So you're saying life is like what happens in this horror flick?????
For those that feel they need to watch movies to gain a deeper understanding of misery and ugliness try The Homesman. Of course, if you are an American you won't get it and you will probably think it is poorly acted, trite, cliché-ridden and ugly...all true by the way. In fact, if you are an American you will won't be able to see it in a theatre because it is so extremely foul and disappointing that it went the way of the stream faster than most. How lucky the Europeans are to be constantly on the watch for unhappiness and misery so that they might learn from both...smirk.
shareI can see your point. I don't always like happy endings either.
shareI can see why you might say that, and I am sure many Americans know that life is not always happy endings, believe me the Tea Party is taking over, or not. I think the movie and the ending was a bit more complex than people think. Even though it was sad when Lily wanted to go with Mama, but I think I am one of the few who did not think Mama was bad, just lonely and tortured and she was capable of love.
The ending was bittersweet, but I did not think it was altogether sad. Lily probably would not ever have adapted to this world because she was just a baby, or toddler when she was taken and did not know anything else. Even though she began to bond with and love Annabelle, it would not be the same. As heartbreaking as it was, I think she went with Mama so that Mama would not be sad or be alone anymore. It is hard to look at it from a kid's point of view. It was not a happy ending but it was not totally sad either. Even though Lily died, she would be with Mama and be cared for always and the scene with the glowing butterfly letting Victoria know that in a way let her know that Lily will always be around her.
That is a weird interpretation but that is what I felt about it.
Some people who aren't Americans have nothing but hateful comments to make about Americans. I'm use to it.
