Arachnophobia anyone?

Another disguised "remake".

reply

I recall hearing they were supposed to just straight-up remake that one years ago.

It's a monster movie using a giant spider and takes place in an apartment building ...doesn't sound like the same plot to me.

reply

Of course you have seen "Arachnophobia", correct? I would say that it is similar. How about "Eight Legged Freaks"?

reply

Underrated.

reply

Your opinion ... not mine. "Eight Legged Freaks" was a brilliant satire of monster movies. It wasn't meant to be taken seriously, but with tongue firmly planted in cheek. Arachnophobia was also a brilliant horror comedy.

reply

Yes, I’ve seen Arachnophobia.

You realize the difference between one spider growing to the size of a large dog killing tenants of an apartment building vs thousands of normal sized spiders taking over a small town?

Not to mention that the spider in this movie appears to have been “adopted” by a young girl and can also whistle.

Regarding Eight Legged Freaks, that one is a combo of this movie and Arachnophobia. Hundreds of monstrously giant spiders taking over a small town.

reply

Yes I know the difference. The point is that it is another spider horror movie. Not that that is a bad thing, if the movie is well made. There have been several giant spider movies over the years - "Earth Vs. The Spider" and the great "Tarantula", both big films when I was a young man.
