Ryan Dunn joke was out of line
Ignoring the fact that the rest of her jokes were just unfunny and rude, the Dunn joke was really out of line seeing as he just died 2 months ago. You could see how hard it hit steve-o. Seriously, what a bitch.

shareWhat I was saying in the other thread, is if you go that route with saying something really offensive, you better sell it and you better be funny.
The past roasts had a hilarious Gary Coleman joke after he died and everyone laughed their asses off. So now people think they could just make harsh jokes about recently deceased people to be funny. That's not clever humor to me.
"Say anything about me, dahling, as long as it isn't boring."-Tallulah Bankhead
and charlie was out of lines.
"It's for the pain. Rarely touch the stuff...Can I have another?"
I agree. Jeff Ross made a joke at the Trump roast about Gary Coleman dying from multiple aneurysms, which is sorta like "Different Strokes" and the audience seemed to love it.
I think what makes the Steve-O joke different is that he actually knew Ryan Dunn, compared to the Amy Winehouse joke Seth made where no one in the room was a family member or close friend to her (and I love her so much so I would be the first to defend her). I actually felt bad for Steve-O because I think it was just a reminder to him that his friend died; so it seemed too soon.
It was the Greg Giraldo joke about Gary Coleman that was hilarious:
To David Hasselhoff, he said "your liver is so shriveled, black and dead, if you put your ear to your side you can hear it go 'Watchoo talkin' about, Willis?'"
Like Norm Macdonald said, it's a roast but some things just aren't funny to say and he can't believe people had to actually be warned not to make jokes about William Shatner's wife dying. He said why would people even joke about something like that?
And the Steve-O part was tough because like you said, he actually knew Ryan Dunn. That hurt.
"Say anything about me, dahling, as long as it isn't boring."-Tallulah Bankhead
Oh I totally forgot that joke by Greg! At first I thought you were talking about Jeff Ross's Gary joke, but Greg's is so much funnier.
Maybe I don't keep up enough, but Shatner's wife is dying? So were the roasters warned at the Shatner roast that jokes about his wife were off limits? I wasn't even aware of that. Nothing to do with anything, but I just love Norm MacDonald

Yeah, the people were warned ahead of time to not make fun of William Shatner's dead wife, Joan Rivers' daughter, and Pamela Anderson's Hepatitis C. Apparently there have been other subjects that have been made off-limits, but what they are hasn't been stated.

everyone watch the dean martin series of roasts...lots of risque jokes done with class and most are actually funny...oh yeah plus "a" listers showing up instead of virtual unknowns
"It's better to burn out than to fade away...."
Yeah, that's one of the things that the Dean Martin roasts have - everybody involved in the roast knew everyone else. With the Comedy Central roasts, most of them don't know each other, much less the audience knowing who the hell they are.

Yet Andy Dick joked about Pam's Hep C anyway. Doesn't surprise me that it's coming from the guy who got Phil Hartman's wife to relapse.
shareI totally agree. She was the best, but that statement was out of line. I saw the look on steve-o's face and he didn't even laugh. I felt so bad for him. In a roast, when your comparing someone to someone who recentlly died, that's completely out of line. That was just a horrible thing to say. She was a complete bitch for that.

not really a fan of Steve-O or Dunn, honestly it's shameful how he died, but he's dead unfortunately...I thought the joke delivery was forced (ergo, unfunny) and meant to be topical. Yes, it is a roast, and NOTHING is off limits, but some jokes are funny, and some are not. That one fell into the latter category
"It's better to burn out than to fade away...."
I was more offended by her forced delivery. Her jokes were hit or miss at best. A couple of them were hilarious, but most were mediocre and she came off as cocky and over-confidant.
You said to hold on to Smallville. I will. I won't ever forget.~Clark Kent
I thought most of Amy Schumacher's stuff was the funniest of the evening--except for the Ryan Dunn joke, which was totally tactless. Never mind that Steve-O is a man who has made a career of totally embarassing and humiliating and making people feel bad so others can laugh. She was a bitch with that joke, and you could even feel the audience kind of 'catch' in shock on that one. But omit that and you have a funny routine.

All complaints about my post go to Helen Waite.
I thought the joke was more a slam against Steve-O and not disrespectful of Ryan Dunn's death, but this is the kind of out of line joke that I expect on a roast. I think the legendary Gilbert Gottfried "Empire State Building" joke after 9/11 was out of line, but still very funny. From the accounts that I have read, people were gathering their belongings and preparing to leave after Gilbert told the joke.
And on that subject, I wish we could see what jokes were cut out of the show. Sometimes Comedy Central shows more material in a special repeat of the roast, or include outakes on the DVD. I think I heard very little was cut from the Bob Saget roast. That was a great roast!
To be on the dais, you need to have a thick skin. Tough way to get initiated.
Who gives a FCK about Ryan Dunn? Seriously. The stupid douchebag from Jackass? Jesus Christ, people act like a fcking Saint died.

INSIGHTFUL SAYINGS!
Anthony Jeselnik is a retard. This girl Amy is so ugly and just tries so hard to be funny its ridiculous. That poke at Steve-o was annoying too. You're right, even the audience didn't laugh at all minus the one person who was probably someone she blew to get famous. Wow she's so ugly my GOD. Bring back Lisa!

shareGo over to my post "Ryan Dunn = Scumbag" and take a look at all the folks who just LOVE this guy. He was the furthest thing from a saint. A stupid douchebag drunk. I am so glad that someone finally had the fortitude to tell it like it is. Steve-O is another comeplete idiot and with his big "sobriety" message why is he ok with Ryan Dunn murdering that guy? Shouldn't he be preaching about all the ills of drinking and driving? What a hypocrite!!!

shareThe Roasts are SCRIPTED AND REHEARSED. He knew what was coming and agreed to it. Are you people that dense?
sharemcg2008-1, Shatner's wife drowned about 10 years ago in their family pool. Schumer (or any of the other ones) could've easily said, "Bill, c'mon, with all your money you couldn't afford at least one swimming lesson for your spouse?"
ucgrad, and we look forward to your responses on said thread.
ransax, regardless.
"If I had ya where I wanted ya, they'd be pumpin your ass full of formaldehyde!"
Considering that people on this roast have made fun of Kurt Cobain, Amy Winehouse and Gary Coleman shortly after their death (AKA people with an actual talent) This wasn't anything new and it wasn't crossing any line.
