Am I the only one who actually liked this movie?
I thought it was solid movie, don't understand why so many people hated it? I actually preferred this to some other pixar movies like Inside out, Brave and Cars.

No, my wife and I both loved it. In fact, she was crying at some parts of the movie. 😢
We actually just got this last night from Disney Movie Club and watched it. I thought it was excellent. For me Toy Story 3, Wall-E and Up remain the Pixar's gold standards (I haven't seen Inside Out yet). But this isn't that far behind. The three obvious scenes o of Spot joining the caveman family, Arlo seeing his dad and then reuniting with his family were some Pixar's best emotionally wise.
shareAbsolutely loved this movie
I agree. It isn't the best Pixar movie, no. But it isn't the worst either. I guess everyone is perfectly entitled to their opinion, I just don't understand why people are claiming it's too frightening for children...
For me, Arlo's father dying was reminiscent of Mufasa's death in Lion King, and sure that was a particularly traumatising moment for a lot of us as kids, but it was also a beautifully powerful moment too.... and parents didn't bat an eye! In fact, they encouraged us to watch the Lion King despite the death scenes!
Also let us consider some other "scary" Disneys from the vault: The Black Cauldron, The Nightmare Before Christmas... heck even Snow White had a few scares (the Queen's transformation, anyone?) And let's not forget the demented babydoll headed metal spider creature from Toy Story ... to this day .... I can't ....
ANYWAY
My point is, these things were never too scary for us when we were children, so why are parents these days so critical of the danger/fear factors presented in the Good Dinosaur?

No, I liked it, it was cute.
shareI totally agree. Yes, I know we are all spoiled with Pixars greats, toy story trilogy, ratatouille, wall-e, monsters inc., inside out..., but they also have, to a degree, a string of "not as great" movies, cars, brave (that one was pretty weak), cars 2 (worst one by far), monsters university..., and this falls somewhere in the middle. Its very simple, definitely targeted at younger audiences, but its heartwarming, charming, AMAZINGLY animated and at times gorgeous to look at. Also, the "getting high" scene is great, it came out of nowhere and was hilarious.
