Daniel Brühl's Austrian Accent
Don't get me wrong, the casting was impeccable. They all looked as close to the original people as you can get but Brühl's accent was horrendous. He sounded like he was making an Indian accent at times.

shareIf you knew Niki Lauda then you'd know that Brühl was spot on. I'm one quarter austrian. What about you?
shareAgreed he got it right
shareTake a look at this, for example:

Seriously, Brühl's accent was one of the best parts of the movie. Growing up with Lauda's voice and very distinctive way of speaking on TV and radio I couldn't help but smile all way through.
I will now end this debate with you.
I think the OP thinks all Austrian accents should sound like Schwarzenegger lol
shareWatching the film, I was wondering how accurate his accent was. Thanks.
shareI'd say Bruhl's Viennese accent was about as good as Hemsworth's English one.
Limit of the Willing Suspension of Disbelief: directly proportional to its awesomeness.
It reminded me of Goldmember's accent from Austin Powers
shareBrühl doesn't sound like a 'normal' Viennese, but neither does Lauda. He matches Laudas accent perfectly. If I wouldn't know Lauda and hear his voice, I would know that he's Austrian but he would definitely sound a bit strange.
I'm Austrian.

Looking at that old interview clip, Bruhl was spot on.
