Were we really supposed to believe Jesse was attractive?

Elle Fanning is very plain looking. It doesn't look like she put any work into her looks except for starving herself. I'm going to be an *beep* and say shes ugly but considering she was playing a woman who is at the height of true beauty I just don't buy it. Abbey Lee was better looking and she was supposed to be jealous of Elle's looks?

You're move, creep

Everyone has their own taste, but don't say things that are just plain stupid. Saying Elle Fanning is "very plain looking" is like saying 120 degrees Fahrenheit is "luke warm". That's a pretty stupid "opinion"

Jessie had to have a little more of a genuine, innocent "girl-next-door" look to her compared to the other models, who looked more vapid and hollow. THAT is what the other models were jealous of, not her standard-issue model beauty. All five of the main actresses in this are really pretty women, who 99.9 percent of the guys on the IMDB would feel privileged to "get with" in real life.

When it comes to all the 9s and 10s that generally show up in Hollywood movies, the only thing DUMBER than the obvious "she's so hot" threads are the unbelievable "she's ugly" or "she's mehhh" threads. Gimme a break already!

Carey Mulligan (who was also in Drive) was supposed to star in Elle's role. I do have to wonder how that would have played out had Carey been "Jesse".

I didn't quite buy the scenes where men's jaws literally drop when Elle Fanning walks into room. I get that it's more about her youthfulness/naivete that they find so powerfully alluring, but Elle's whole manner and exterior seemed very distant and, yes, rather plain. Could Carey Mulligan, while older, have brought more spark and spirit to Jesse's character, truly making her the "It Girl" everyone is jealous of? We'll never know!

Fascinating. I actually just had that thought - Mulligan has actual girl-next-door hotness appeal but that’s mainly because she projects intelligence and warmth from behind an unconventionally pretty face (strangely, a face which tells you what she will look like as an old woman)

Elle Fanning had an innocence quality, but there was nothing to fall in love with.

She's not plain looking. I'm a photographer who has shot for model agencies and she could easily get on a good agencies books (facially, no idea how tall she is).

I agree with what you said, she's not really hot nor beautiful, she's ok and trying to portray her as this super beauty is either a poor casting choice or trying to get the idea that in this movie world they had a different value for beauty than we do in the real world.
BUT
It kinda feels that you are trolling even if you are not, god forbid you make a honest comment about some hollywood minor starlet.

And above all, dude, it's "YOUR move, creep".
Fix that, or it looks like you're trolling Robocop which is a way bigger crime than trolling Elle Fanning.

I think she is very sexy and attractive, definitely not plain looking.
