Another thing Guy Ritchie touches that turns to crud

This guy must not be murdering and raping enough children in Hollywood because his career seems to be in the toilet.

Has he made anything good since the Lock Stock film and Snatch? Jude Law also seems to be another barometer of banality as well. Also $102million budget..., LOL i'd be sweating buckets about now if id put money in this train wreck!

reply

A $102 million budget. Ouch.

Only King Arthur himself will be able to pull out that kind of money from this movie. Not Guy Swept Away Ritchie.

reply

Yeah exactly, it'll need about $250million worldwide to break even probably. They're probably hoping the Chinese and Japanese will lap it up and that some idiots in America and Europe will go and see it opening weekend before all the bad word of mouth kills it dead.

reply

The trailer looks great. The movie looks like it will be something different, a new telling. I love the genre and Ritchie looks to have made a hopefully very entertaining iMovie. You British snobs can sit home, America and Asia is where they make their money a ways.

reply

Rock n Rolla was a good movie.

reply

I must have seen a different trailer because it looks like dogturds to me. Ritchie hasn't done a good film for years, this looks like his usual effort, try to distract people with special effects to disguise the fact that the movie is completely hollow.

reply

Man From Uncle, anyone?

reply

That was also bad.

reply

loved Man from Uncle, and loved the Sherlock Holmes films too.

reply

I was surprised at how much I enjoyed Man from UNCLE--wasn't really expecting much, but I found it fun. I liked the Sherlock Holmes films, too, so I'll give this a shot, even if it's just at a matinee.

reply

Loved Man From UNCLE and a recent Tweet from Armie Hammer hinted there may be a sequel....Bring on the haters!

reply

agreed. This takes heinous to a whole new level. Do we really need the King Arthur legend with modern language and street fighting? Does he really need to be the reluctant hero? Ugh. So much vomit.

reply

The movie works, no one is forcing you to see it, but I had a blast watching it so I am glad he made it.

Here's an interview with Ritchie about his career, the failure of The Man From U.N.C.L.E. and how it's been gradually finding a following, and his new take on the King Arthur legend:

I may check it out because I've never seen Charlie Hunnam in a leading role ( I thought he would have been a really good choice for the creepy male lead in 50 Shades,bwt--he seems like he would have brought some more edge to it) and also because it's apparently got some diversity in it, plus Jude Law and Djimon Hounsou are in it. Slamming action plus hot dudes---I may check it out just for that, lol. Plus it's a Guy Ritchie flick---I've liked all his early gangster films, plus both the Sherlock Holmes films (liked the first one better, though) haven't seen The Man From U.N.C.L.E.---so that another reason I may give it a peep or two.
