Ford v Ferrari or Le Mans '66
Which one do you think is the better title?
shareBoth awful. It shud be called Pistonheadz”
shareWe in the UK have Le Mans '66, which is the "main attraction" for the movie, so to speak. The fact that it's a sporting competition between two motor companies is less of an attraction for Europeans.
That's not the reason the film is called Le Mans in Europe. A British law, or was is the EU again, forbade the use of brand names in movie titles.
shareFord v. Ferrari is hands down the better title. I don't think too many people even know what Le Mans is, or would care one way or another about a film about a car race in 1966. By pitting Ford Motors against Ferrari, it gives potential viewers a frame of reference, and make the film sound 1000 times more interesting.
shareBut think about Ferrari fans' and owners' feelings...
Ferrari DOMINATED Le Mans for YEARS. And when they lose once it's suddenly a movie title: Ford v Ferrari... in which Ford wins and Ferrari loses. Not exactly what I would call very fair.
Isn't the setup for nearly all sports films? How many films center on the perennial champs winning another one?
shareThis is real story, there fore it's fairly
shareFord v Ferrari.
Also, they did it more than once.
