8/10 is a little high but it's certainly not as bad as some are making it out to be.
It's an OK movie, in my opinion, nothing more or less than that. I was hoping for more, but it has its moments and just watching Clint act at 90 years old is entertaining on its own level.
The story has an undercurrent of sweetness to it, which I appreciate. There is also some nice cinematography.
The main problem with the film is the script. The dialogue needed another pass and there are a few plot points and inconsistent character moments that had me scratching my head a bit. Clint also was just too old to play the main character (for instance, no one is going to believe that the kid's hot mom is going to be at all sexually interested in a 90-year-old man even if she is crazy as fuck).
Richard Jewell came out only two years ago and it's a far superior film. I have to believe that Cry Macho is Clint's last movie, but if not, and he finds a way to continue on at his age, I think he should stick to directing and put all his energy into that and let the young people do the acting. But if he does want to get in front of the camera again, it should really be in a role that can be believably performed by a man in his 90s.
