'I DIE A FREE MAN!'

Seriously, that was a pretty badass moment for me. Maybe it's because I liked the character of Atticus so much.

Money isn't the root of all evil. Love of money is.

reply

yeah I liked him too. I have liked the actor since the mummy returns.

Mr Eko!

O when the Saints

Shame he wasn't the star of the movie.

Slave Revolt !!!

Bulls make money, Bears make money, Pigs? They get slaughtered!

reply

By that logic all the Romans that died also died free men. Pretty pointless ending IMO.

reply

Huh? He had been a slave. He was not a Roman.

Likewise – I’m a long time admirer of the Triple-A Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (since his C20 ‘Simon Adebisi’ days in Oz), and his proud black African gladiator ‘Atticus’ was by far the greatest character in Pompeii. A one-man slave revolt doth hardly a rebel uprising make (though we do have the superb Spartacus: War of the Damned (2010–2013) » http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1442449/ for that), yet Adewale’s passionate and grand “Screw You, You Slaving Roman SCUM-SUCKERS!moment of victory and short-lived “freedom” was certainly one to savour.

There’s a grand NYC SwaysUniverse radio interview with him from Feb 2014 on the Tube:

• Adewale Akinnuoye Agbaje Describes The Most Uncomfortable Situations While Acting On Screen
– “You may remember him from movies like Thor, G.I. Joe and Bourne Identity but now Adewale Akinnuoye Agbaje is anticipating the release of his new movie, Pompeii. While on the show, Adewale also talks about his Buddhism faith, and the path that led him to his choice in religion. Sway also touches base on Buddhism and shares about his daughter's choice in the same faith. Adewale shares about some of his most uncomfortable situations while on-screen, including kissing some actresses that he is completely not attracted to and acting intimate with people that he doesn't really know.“
– video, 16:05 » http://youtu.be/Jx4a6YOwLu4

…and, damn, but Adewale don’t sound like no Londoner no more, y’all – though since his broad accent base acting skill is one of his stand out talents, that’s cool with me.

For comparison, here is Triple-A’s native London accent from 2009:
• Lost Mr. Eko Adewale Akinnuoye Agbaje GI Joe

Now I’m thinking it’s time for me to check out his film performances I’ve not yet had the opportunity to enjoy… thanks to IMDb and the torrent cloud, a personal Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje Retrospective Season is a cinch to curate, acquire, and enjoy!

I did kept waiting to hear the OZ show theme song whenever the prison gate closed on Atticus though....

How sad that the smoke monster got him again.

LOL! I bet it was the smoke monster great ancestor and Mr. Ecko was related to the guy.

He was the only decent actor and likable character in the movie. Too bad his acting couldn't fix everything that was wrong with it. I hope he gets better roles.
