That was bad

***POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT***

This is just my opinion, if you liked the movie and disagree with me then that's fine. But as a reminder, it is only my opinion.

I am a huge Arnold fan, so I was very excited to see him in a new movie. He is in his twilight years of his career and soon will be retiring. So any chance I can get to see him in a movie, I'm all over it. What was exciting about Maggie is a role he is normally not in. You get to see a different side of Arnold we haven't seen yet. However after waiting for this movie to finally come out, I have to say it was a HUGE disappointment. I mean, wow. Maggie made Sabotage look Oscar worthy. Once again Arnold had to shoulder the whole thing with just a really bad supporting cast. Outside of Arnold, the movie was very bland, story line just seemed flat and limited. I thought Arnold did a very good job showing a different side to his acting abilities, but there were a length of time throughout the movie where Arnold was not in the story line and it was just very dull, boring and dragged on.

I get they were trying to build the story line, but just felt a lot of bad acting in this outside of Arnold. To me, it also seemed like they were fighting to decide what type of movie this was. A mature adult drama movie, or a teenager tackling the problems of the world type of movie (In a zombie way of course). I guess I just kept wanting Arnold to be the main character, but he wasn't and that just didn't seem to work very well. I dunno. The ending was also just very short and meh. Out of all the movies Arnold has been in since coming back to Hollywood, this was the worst one on my list.

But I hope he got all the cobwebs out with these last few movies leading up to the new Terminator movie and return to form in July. Can't wait! And no matter how bad his movies might get, I will always watch and support them. Here's to Arnold never getting to the choppa. Hope you act forever!!

i loved it. i never watched the trailer or even read a full synopsis of it but it struck a chord with me. i've had sick family members (at various times) come home to die and despite this movie having the zombie/infection thing as a backdrop, the movie rang pretty true to me. great acting from all involved and i say that as someone who's really not a big fan of Arnie's or Breslin's. they were both fantastic in this.

Sorry to hear about your personal issues.

A lot of you have more patience than myself. I couldn't make it past the 50 minute mark before calling it quits. *beep* was garbage, yo

I had a really hard time watching this film and to be honest i never got a round to watching the whole thing as it was sending me to sleep, what really let it down was the poor script, the acting that was ok it was nice to see Arnold try some thing different , for me the film was to slow and dull because not very much really happens all the way though it, that was the main problem for me i understand it not meant to be your normal zombie type film , but if the script had been better i could have been a interesting take on zombies.

With the ending i think the writers wanted to show that she still had some humanity left and love for her father even though she had turned , some might think it was a cop out and maybe it was, but i think it really depends on how you look at it.

This film kind of reminded me of a similar film about a old bloke in Ireland who was slowly turning into a zombie as well, i forget what its called but that was better than Maggie.

Yeah, exactly. Glad I wasnt the only one who felt this way about the movie. It just seemed very boring. I had a feeling it would be with the movie name Maggie and its main character is a girl who slowly becomes infected, but leading up to the movie it was billed as another Arnold movie. If Arnold was not in this movie I would not even consider watching it, more than likely why they used Arnold as the primary draw.

I think allot of Arnold's fan will be suckered in to watching this film, all because he is in it sadly, but the film makers know a well known actor or actress will draw in there fans and they will go to watch it even if they end up disappointment by the film.

I really believe this was his worst movie so far since coming back to Hollywood. Sabotage was the worst prior. Wonder why he decided to do this movie, definitely dont need the money or didn't think this would bank at the box office.

I agree that the filmmakers didn't seem to know what type of movie this was supposed to be. I'm not that familiar with Arnold and didn't go into this film hoping for a shoot'em up; I wanted a thoughtful horror based drama. If this was a drama it was not a good one: in fact I think this is one of the worst scripts I've encountered (although that isn't saying much). Throughout the film it was very transparent to me that these were people reading words that some guy had written for them to say. I didn't find any of the acting good but I don't think there was a lot the actors could do because of the clunkiness of the script. All the dialogue felt very unnatural to me. There was definitely an original concept here with a lot of potential but it just did not deliver on the execution.

reply

Completely agree. This was a disappointment. Slow moving and pretentious I barely could get through to the end.

I hope he does better with his next project.

I find hard to believe someone above average would be using insults. Are you trying to make people think? Cause I don't think so.
You might be right about corporations but people won't stop eating mcdonalds if you treat them like *beep* cause at least mcdonalds has some slaves to give you some smiles with your order.

It wasnt so much the pacing, this was meant to be a slow burning drama, it was more to do with the lack of activity in the script. It seems to just plod from one scene to the next where nothing much really happens. Best way I can describe it is wasteful because the acting and cinematography were top notch.
