How much potential do you think this movie has?

What are your thoughts on this movies potential? Do you think it has the chance to be the best Batman movie ever? The worst Batman movie ever? Somewhere in the middle?

I personally think this movie has great potential considering the cast and director. Matt Reeves is an underrated director and I feel the gothic aesthetic is so refreshing. Don't get me wrong I loved Nolan's vision but I feel bringing back the flare of the gothic style is a great choice as we have not had it since the Burton era. What are you guys most excited for about the film? What are you least excited for? What are you skepticisms?

I rank all the Batman movies like this.

Batman 1989 7.5/10
Batman Returns 7.5/10
Batman Forever 4/10
Batman & Robin 3/10
Batman Begins 8.5/10
The Dark Knight 9.5/10
The Dark Knight Rises 7.0/10
Batman V Superman Dawn of Justice 1/10.
Justice League theatrical cut 1/10.

To me I am most excited about Pattinson as Batman. I personally think he has the chance to be the best live action Batman on screen. If the script and direction allows it. Keaton and Bale were both very good but I feel tons of people sleep on Pattinson as an actor. Check out Good Time and Lighthouse. I also am stoked Catwoman gets to be here from the beginning. This means she has a chance to be in multiple installments which we have never seen in live action. It is always one and done with live action Catwoman interpretations. Paul Dano as Riddler? Need I say more? Perfection!

I rate Pattinson as an actor but he seems kinda young and slight for Batman. Paul Dano is possibly the most annoying actor ever and generally I want to like and be charmed by a villain while fearing them (see Nicholson’s Joker).

Mostly, though, I think it’s crazy that we’re already getting a new Batman. Dark Knight Rises seemed like yesterday and we’re already on to the second Batman since. We’re drowning in superhero movies and I wish Hollywood would channel its energy into something original. I miss the 90’s when exciting new projects like Pulp Fiction and The Matrix were coming out every year. Now it’s just bland samey swill on and on forever 🤦🏻‍♂️

This certainly has the potential to be really good. At the least, I hope it's a great starting point for a new franchise kind of like what he did for the Planet of the Apes reboot series.
Matt Reeves is a good director and Robert Pattinson really turned his whole acting career into something different and better since Twilight. I do want the movie to be its own thing and have its own style compared to the Nolan trilogy and to a lesser extent, the Batfleck version.

It's the only DC movie I'm salivating for mostly because it's Batman.

Pattinson disappears in costume like with Keaton and Bale.

Catwoman being in more than one installment is great, be the female lead of this trilogy.

Definitely a lot.

This flick has gargantuan potential.

This has potential to be really good. Anyone who doubts Pattinson's acting chops has never seen his movies outside of Twilight. The only thing I'm afraid of is when comic book movies cram too many villains into one movie and it becomes diluted. I'll predict it'll be in the 7.5-.8.5 range for me.

I love the Batman movies, and I think Pattinson is an inspired choice, but I do get fed up with this trend of multiple villains. I'd like to see a simple one-on-one tale. The only time we really got that was Batman '89.

Anyway, I rank the movies so far,

The Dark Knight 10/10
Batman Returns 9.5/10
The Dark Knight Rises 9/10
Batman Begins 8.5/10
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice 8/10
Batman '66 8/10
Batman '89 8/10
Batman Forever 6.5/10
Batman & Robin 3/10 (for Alicia Silverstone)

Pattinson will be good but people will hate the movie because it's not directed by Christopher Nolan.
I'll give it a chance, but I suspect it will be another dead end DC effort, with a small following of fans who appreciate it.

I would rank them thus:

Batman Begins 9/10
Batman 1966 8/10
Batman V Superman Dawn of Justice 8/10
Batman 1989 7/10
The Dark Knight 7/10
The Dark Knight Rises 7/10
Batman Forever 6/10
Batman Returns 5/10
Batman & Robin 1/10

Batman is a joke nowadays because of the continuous reboots. So it will flop most likely.
