Almost completely put off by the ridiculous host duo...

Does anyone else find sue perkins (especially sue) and the other host remotely funny? Because I don't in the least. They almost kill the whole show with their awkward little jokes and pund, it is so painful! They don't even seem to match the whole tone of the show. Wish they had hosts as classy, calm and normal as the judges. And only one host actually. What is the point of 2? Especially those 2....

reply

They're hilarious! I'd be so sad if they ever left.

reply

They are corny, but sweet and encouraging too. I think they're an important element to balance out the more serious, professional judges, otherwise the show would basically be culinary school. They lighten the mood and remind everyone that it's not life and death, it's just cakes.

reply

I think they help strike the perfect balance. The contestants are stressed, the judges dignified and serious, and they hosts bring just the right amount of zest. I love the whole show, wouldn't change a thing. It's the only show I truly look forward to every week.

reply

Sue is absolutely hysterical - one of the main reasons I watch the show.

I said I'd feed you...I didn't say who to.

reply

I love the hosts, too. Don't change a thing about this show. It's perfect!

reply

Oh my God! She is NOT funny. She is highly annoying and her jokes are terrible. Mel doesn't bother me as much. Every time I hear Sue's voice, it makes me cringe. Just shut up lady.

reply

Ugh, thank you, I quite agree...obviously. But seriously, like someone else mentioned, especially those weird "ready, set, BAKE" moments, they are often just...creepy, lame, pointless, sad, etc. lol. I guess it just isn't my style of humor (if you can call what they have humor), they make me uncomfortable. I'd say the show would be perfect without them. And why 2 of them? Seems excessive. If they are going to have comedic relief, it should be just one person who is actually funny. And classy. Why not someone from a classic Britcom?

reply

And why 2 of them?

They've known each other since they were at Cambridge and worked together ever since.

As for whether they are "actually funny", plainly that is entirely a matter of very subjective opinion. You don't like them; I do; many others do. The fact is that whoever they got, some people would take a dislike to them.

Your "classy" remark is meaningless too.

I'm the clever one; you're the potato one.

reply

I find them okay sometimes, but they mostly get on my nerves. They're the one bad thing about the show. I also hate when a baker messes up and are freaking out and they're there not helping at all.

reply

I love them both but I'm American...maybe that's why?

reply

They almost ruin the show. One would be bad enough but two of them make no sense whatsoever.

reply

I prefer them to the pair hosting the US version, The Great Holiday Baking Show, last season. Nia Vardalos and her husband, Ian Gomez, were awful. Not funny, definitely no charm.

If you can't be a good example -- then you'll just have to be a horrible warning.

reply

I don't mind them except when they ruin one of the contestants baked goods. The dome on the cookie box this time. 

I really love them both and think they fit right in with the tone of the show. But i have to agree. No one should be allowed to touch any of the bakes until after judging.

I also don't like it when Paul and Mary walk around and ask questions. These contestants are on a time crunch and are nervous to boot. They're trying to concentrate on what they are doing.

We only see the 10-15 seconds that make it to air, but i wonder how long they are distracted from their recipes/assembly to stop and talk to Paul and Mary. And then Paul always has to say something which makes them even more nervous and sometimes they second guess themselves.

If they have to talk to them, it should be before anyone starts when they are just gathering their ingredients or setting up their stations, certainly not after they've started mixing/baking.

Fraaaank. FRANK! Get my jean bin. Susie wants my jeans.
No she doesnt.
