The cast at the Los Angeles Film Festival made the announcement that the second season will begin on August 1! The first episode, "Scaryoke", will be on Disney Channel. On August 4, Disney XD will premiere "Into the Bunker". A sneak peek of "Into the Bunker" was shown and you can see it here:

The cast also revealed through a table read an alternate scene from "Summerween" and an unused introduction of Bill Cipher. There's also a showcase of various Season 2 backgrounds.

Here are the episode synopses from today's press release:

The season premiere episode, titled “Scary-oke,” finds the Pines family resolving to get back to normal after the Lil’ Gideon incident. They throw a “Mystery Shack is Back” party, but some unwelcome guests crash it. In the second episode, ”Into the Bunker,” premiering exclusively on Disney XD, Dipper’s secret journal pages lead him and the gang to the author’s hidden bunker where they find themselves face-to-face with a mysterious figure from Gravity Falls’ lore.

If you have the WATCH Disney Channel and/or WATCH Disney XD app, it will provide a live simulcast for each episode on their respective nights and channel at 9 p.m. Also a week before the season premiere, on July 26 & 27, all first season episodes and shorts will air on Disney XD from 10 a.m.-8 p.m.

Oh yay. I have a small cable company that doesn't support the Watch Disney app, and I don't have XD unless I want to pay an extra $20 a month. I'm going to have to find an alternative source to watch my current favorite show. Darn you, Disney Channel.

Regarding the season 2 schedule: The second episode came three days after the first. The third comes seven days after that. The fourth, twenty one days after that. All are prime numbers, seemingly in an increasing pattern. Clearly significant.

Watching this right now. It hasn't really been the best for the first segment. It's better than Bottomless Pit!, but it's not as good as the other episodes.
