This has promise

the Featurette was released today looks good and a return to form the franchise

Meh, these featurettes serve one purpose only: Lure people in.
They aren't trustworthy and too often the movies with awesome trailers end up disappointing... especially Scott's movies.
I do agree that it seems WAY more promising than Prometheus and Covenant, but frankly that's a low bar to pass.

What worries me is the "conveniently diverse cast", it hints at the wrong priorities.
I just hope this was only true for casting and not the writing...

We will know more a month from now.

I also worry about the cast, but not so much the diversity but that they are all young...gives it a kind of 'teens in space' vibe.

And the director is known for horror movies that use jump scares...so expect lots of face huggers and aliens jumping all over the place.

reply

Very good points and now that you mention it, yes, the cast is suspiciously young and the trailer already showed SO MUCH face hugger action it is indeed concerning.

Ugh.

Just can't have nice things anymore since GenZ and the SJW craze. A doomsday combination for art.

Oh God, don't make me loose the little hope I have left for this movie, please. xD

I stick with older movies myself for the most part. Have been extending my private collection recently and the 80s and 90s productions dominate that list for sure. The 2000s came up with some really good stuff too, but less frequently and nowadays really good movies seem to be even more rare because most insist on political indoctrination and submissive messaging more than, well, the art.

The SJW craze will boil over at some point and then everybody has had enough and row back to normality, one way or another. Until then, I can sip Whiskey and rewatch my favorites as many times as I like and no blue haired non-binary kid who doesn't know if it is a man or a woman can do anything about it. Cheers!

I know nobody that said Prometheus was amazing.

Oh I agree, Prometheus has great moments. I think the implication of it is actually better than anything else in the film. I think I appreciate the movie more than most folks.

I was just wonder who "people" were that said it was great, because I never met them.

Caliee Spaeny is coming of A Golden Globe Nomination for Priscilla this is a bad take also that didn't hurt Prey(2022) which is one of the best besides the OG Predator.

I see Projection mixed with you Radical Republican Ideology also Hollywood has more than One IP Dumbass and if you want "Original" content check out an A24 Film also Prey has ranked among the best Predator films on Numerous as Letterboxd and Imdb. Alien Romulus will do the same at least Caliee Spaeny will have better Sci-Fi movie than Pacific Rim:Uprising(2018) on her resume now.
