So when does this actually show get good? At SE1E14 right now

Not a knock. Just started watching it.
I like a good horror/fantasy mix. Show's decent, but not great thus far.
Seems more of a monster, or in this case, freak of the week type deal.
Does it go beyond that? An expanded cast, character developments, story, etc?

This show excels as a freak of the week show. The writers don't have the chops for story arcs. Or, maybe it's that the showrunners don't have a plan, so the writers are left floundering. Either way, this is as good as it gets. The thing is, I really *like* the FOTW format.

All that is, of course, my opinion. They attempted some story arcs later--I'm not sure what people consider an *arc", so I'm not sure when one starts or ends, but they are there. Some people love them. I find they get in the way of what the show does best.

So, enigmatic as that may be, that is my honest opinion. FOTW=fun. Attempted serial or story arcs failed for me. Sloppy, plot holes, inconsistent character behavior and forgotten canon made it less than pleasing. Again, I repeat, some viewers *loved* the arcs.

Proceed as you wish.

I've been a fan of this series since season one. But personally if your not feeling it by episode fourteen it might just not be your cup of tea. Really I would say watch the end of the season if that does nothing for you, then just put it to the side.

Maybe check out season two at a later date or don't. See how you feel.

Really I will admit this shows overall arc's aren't always the best. The characters do develop, the cast develops quite a bit to. Season Two does a lot more efforts into an outright mythology than season one does. And I can say it does get better after season one.

But it never does lose the case of the week element.

Really though if your not feeling it, it might just not be for you.

Personally I love it. But not everyone else has to.

I don't know. When we learn what a Grimm's blood can do.... it gets pretty exciting.

reply

yes it improves as it goes on. however, if you aren't into it don't watch it.

personally i have found myself thinking of it sometimes during the week and wondering what happens next.

reply

I was right there with you. I was watching an episode and decided I was done with the show, I deleted it from my que and was only going to watch until the next commercial break. But then something happened, and I can't remember what, it could have been when Juliette first found out about Nick, but I'm not sure. Now it is one of my favorites on tv

The OP is obviously an idiot.

reply

snowie...an ad hominem attack would suggest that you are describing yourself.

reply

LMAO!! Is that the best you managed to come up with? Talk about lame, ineffective and dead wrong. Also, it wasn't an attack and it was not ad hominem so drop the paranoia.

reply

The OP seemed to form a coherent paragraph asking an intelligent question, so calling him an idiot is either an ad hom or a compliment to idiots. Either way, you can consider this response an ad feminam.

reply

When does your actually subject line make sense? 

I do not have attention deficit disor...Ooh, look at the bunny! 

reply

It depends on how seriously you take the quality of writing, how much attention you pay to details, etc.

Because, frankly, they only find their feet at the end of Season 1, things start making sense... but the second after they finish a big story arc in the first 2-3 episodes of Season 2, the show gets bad, and then it gets from bad to worse.

The story randomly changes its direction, the lore is forgotten, like, the basic things, the "universe-defining things" get forgotten. And it never gets back on track. Writing-wise, it's a disgrace. All the soap opera cliches used like it's 1997, lots of fillers and procrastination, ZERO consistency, ZERO attention to continuity, ZERO logic. Most storylines get abandoned like they've never happened.

So if you're interested in a freak of the week type of thing, it's not great. But if you're more into character development and STORY, just quit watching after the "Sleeping Beauty/Snow White/Beauty and the Beast" arc ends. It's the only good arc, it comes to a head in the end of Season 1, and ends in the beginning of the Season 2. It's the first and the last time this show makes any sense.

Probably sometime after Deadpool starts making some money.

I'm on S1E3, this will be the last for me.

It actually does get decent at SE1E14.
I'm at SE4E22 now. Yes, I binge watched all the episodes.
There were some really good episodes, some not so, and some outright ridiculous,
but I like the regular cast of characters, and like to see what they're going to do next.
