I miss the old Mandy

Molly Ephraim was perfect in that role and so pretty. She played Mandy as sweet and ditzy but also smart in her own way. The new actress plays her too dumb, I think.

I wonder why there apparently wasn't as much of a viewer outrage when Alexandra Krosney was replaced by Amanda Fuller after the first season? Is it because we've had Molly Ephraim longer? But still, by most accounts, Ephraim chose not to come back whereas Krosney was for all intents and purposes, fired.

I think there's a difference between season 1 replacements and season 6 replacements. I'm sure the show did not have the audience at the end of season one that it did when it switched to Fox.

it's interesting then bc when i heard about it coming back and then i watched it and found out molly wasn't in it i thought that makes sense as when a show is off the air for a year and comes back it makes sense she would be the actor to no come back when the show comes back bc of her part being not the biggest part on the show and she seems like she's a smart girl so she wouldn't come back after a year off for her respect. the show ran it's course in the first run, anymore is jumping the shark.

It came as a shock to fans when Last Man Standing announced it would have to recast the role of Mandy Baxter. Fans were thrilled the show was returning but not so happy with the recasting news.

Molly Ephraim played the role for six seasons. However, when ABC canceled the show, she rightfully moved on to other projects.

Fox revived the show last spring, but Ephraim was unavailable to return to the role. The show would have to recast Mandy.

There was no way around recasting. The role is pivotal to the show, especially since Mandy and Kyle are still newlyweds. It would have been more unbelievable to write off the character than to recast the role.

Enter Molly McCook, who was tasked with taking over a role from a beloved actress.

Since the premiere, there has been a lot of backlash surrounding the character, especially when it comes to the physical difference. Original Mandy was short with dark hair. New Mandy is tall with blonde hair.

The show handled the physical differences in a comical way during Last Man Standing Season 7 Episode 1. Everyone in the family noticed a change in Mandy, except her husband, Kyle. It was a great move to acknowledge and poke fun at the obvious differences between the two actresses.

Sadly, fans can't get past the appearance of new Mandy to even give her a chance. Yes, it was startling at first, but four episodes have aired. It is time for fans to get over the physical differences and give new Mandy a chance.

Honestly, the chemistry between new Mandy and Kyle is off the charts. Molly McCook and Christoph Sanders are hilarious together. In every scene, they appear to be having the best time together.

There is more playfulness between the newlyweds than there was with Molly Ephraim. No, I am not slamming her. She was terrific in the role. I am merely pointing out a difference.

what do you mean more unbelievable??? um, she's a different person than molly. that is the most unrealistic thing ever. they could have written around her, said she died or was out of the country but it was a slap in the face to the people who watch this show to recast her character. it's insulting our intelligence to do this. and you're wrong. chemistry? there is no chemistry between new "mandy" and kyle.
oh and the new mandy oh my gosh. it's insulting to even talk about her given how bad of a character she is and how mismatched she is with kyle. she has no chemistry with him. how in the world can they put a new actor in a role which was played by another actor on a show? this show did not become a different version of the original show, so how can they think we can cast another actor in a role on a show that is continuing a story? this doesn't make sense. she's maybe the most annoying character in tv show history. everytime she opens her mouth it's painfully annoying because it's either a stupid humor thing which is painfully unfunny or it's a they think humorous thing she's saying which is so painfully unfunny.

reply

exactly. i agree with all you said. she was never that dumb and she was never a caricature. the new actress is retarded. she's so dumb that it's unrealistic. no one is that dumb and she's so unfunny it's painful everytime she does anything, walk, talk, look at something. i can't stand her and everything she does is so obnoxious. and no one would find her funny or entertaining except maybe a little 6 year old kid who wouldn't watch this show or a retarded person who likes anything.

also, you can't recast a character in a universe of a tv show. that doesn't make sense, we have eyes and ears, we can see it's not the same person. if a show loses and actor due to the actor not wanting to do the show anymore or if they die the show has to either end or work around the character by them not being a part of the show anymore as them not appearing on the show anymore. i mean you can always create a new character who fills the same space of the show that the original did ala woody on cheers but you can't replace an actor with another one on a show.

reply

Agreed. Molly Ephraim was my favorite actor on the show. Her replacement isn't bad, but still, you miss your favorite. I wonder what shows she is on now...

She was so beautiful!
