Jake Gyllenhaal is the best actor of this generation!

Having grown up watching iconic greats like Marlon Brando, Al Pacino and Robert De Niro, it becomes difficult to rate many actors in that type of league. However aside from Denzel Washington, the only actor who can produce the sort of epic performances in such diversity of roles is 'Jake Gyllenhaal'. I am such a huge fan of Gyllenhaal's career, you only have to watch four movies in succession to know this guy is one of the best actors of all time. Movies like 'Prisoners', 'Enemy', 'Nightcrawler' and now 'Southpaw' is testament that there has not been a more refined actor than Jake in the last fifty years.

Jake has claimed into the top ten but here are some names that belong ahead of him: Leonardo DiCaprio, Jeff Bridges, Daniel Day-Lewis, the late Phillip Seymour Hoffman, George Clooney, Denziel Washington, Al Pacino, the fading Robert De Niro, Anthony Hopkins, Tom Hanks, Ryan Gosling, Scott Gordon-Levitt, Jack Nicholson, Tom Wilkinson, Christian Bal, Brad Pitt, Kevin Spacey, Edward Norton Jeffry Wright and Forrest Whitaker. Not saying they are all superior to Jake, just naming the actors I think Jake is catching up to. I'm sure there are some names people will disagree with, but that is everyone s right. I have to mention Bn Kingsly,Mark Wahlburg, Benicio Del Toro and Adrian Brody. Some names to chew on. DiCaprio, Bridges, Day-Lewis, Washington and Spacy I'd put at the top.

There can be no doubt that Jake Gyllenhaal is really coming into his own as a real A list actor. But I would not be ready to say he's the best of our generation. First, what is our generation? They past ten years? Since the new millennium? That's one issue. Then there's actors like Leonardo DiCaprio, Jeff Bridges, Daniel Day Lewis, Denziel Washington, the recently decreased Phillip Seymour Hoffman,Christian Bale, George Clooney, Brad Pitt (and anyone who isn't ready to give Clooney and Pitt their due hasn't been paying attention. Clooney has developed into a very special actor from SYRIANA to MICHAEL CLAYTON, from THE AMERICAN to BURN AFTER READING, and anyone who missed Pitt's performance in FURY I feel for.) Tom Hanks, Edward Norton, Kevin Spacey,Joquin Phoenix, Javier Barden and Johnny Depp. That's to name a few that Jake would be competing with to claim such a tittle. Here is a list of my top fifty actors from 2011 [link=ls000759379]. It would need some reworking to be current, but I feel it has merit. As for Jake Gyllenhaal being the finest actor of our times....sorry, I think you're jumping the gun.

I thought the film was p**h, and once again didn't rate JG's acting. I've never seen a movie of his where I was even close to being blown away. Not saying he's a bad actor but just no way near as good as some folk on here think. And whoever said he's the best of his generation is talking out their hole. Christian Bale, Matt Damon, Leo DiCaprio, Jared Leto, Johnny Depp and Heath Ledger are all better actor's by quite a distance. That's just ones off the top of my head, I'm sure there are plenty of others. Just my two cents of course but I felt that after reading so many glowing reports of the film and the acting that I had to say something about it. Maybe I missed something because it never took my attention straight away but I found it hard to believe that he wouldn't have enough money set aside for the rest of his life and the house paid off etc. Also, when he lost his daughter in court and was told to go to anger management, the way he reacted I thought was laughable considering he was trying his hardest to get her back. Much better boxing film? Undefeated with John Leguizamo.

If you're talking about under 40 years of age then Yes, he's by far the best. But if you're talking about these generation then you have no idea what you're talking about.
