Never mind a second viewing, I could barely get through a first viewing

shareI nearly fell asleep...
shareI did fall asleep then when I woke up - watched the rest. I knew once I was 10 minutes in that this wasn't going to be an exciting or thought provoking film.
Wasted my time, but at least I've watched it so I can judge others by how much they rate it as a "classic".
Heh, I'd love to know how you figured that out 10 minutes in
Howard Hughes was Italian?
I think PTA made Hard Eight and Boogie Nights to gain a following. He attracted mainstream audiences with these movies and has pulled them to the "other side", so to speak, with his subsequent movies. You can't watch PTA movies expecting Boogie Nights, and I think a lot of us did that with Inherent Vice because it's set in LA around the same time period. You have to be willing to go on a journey with PTA to enjoy his movies now. He's not going to give you a fix of cheap laughs and drama. He did that with Boogie Nights. Now you have to have an open mind. This being said, it's hard for me to have an open mind while watching his later films. They are out there. But I'll continue watching them, because I do see some genius in them.
