Anyone else annoyed by the daughters?

Especially the younger one? lol god damn she was annoying as *beep*!!

reply

Honestly I thought they were adorable ... :) ... if you mean they were annoying in the sense that little kids can be annoying at times, sure, but ... they're kids to a T. I liked them.

reply

I thought the older one was annoying but the ypunger one only annoyed me when she yelled for her bear. When she was crying in the bathroom while hiding my heartbroke forsure but it was cute when she asked for a bulldog

reply

I kept expecting that bear to reappear but of course it didn't, I thought Pierce Brosnan would find it looking for them and how the heck did he find them anyway??

reply

Exactly the same for me.

reply

The worse was the oldest daughter by far! I can't believe nobody has mentioned that little twit. Disobedience almost cost her and the others their lives while she was "acting out" at the pool.....and she never even apologized for jeopardizing them all!!! I despised that.

reply

Interesting ... I think I see what you mean, but now there were lots of places like that in the movie ... where "normal" could be (and was) fatal for adults & kids alike. The kids & in fact everyone in the family were all acting in a very realistic, very natural ways, which would have worked out OK under "normal" circumstances. But nothing's normal. Everyone finds themselves in the middle of this horrible rebellion aimed at murdering all the foreigners including the whole family. They had to learn to adapt and fast. The kids learned to adapt too. It was hard for them as for everyone but they did it ... and survived.

Just my take anyway ... :) ...

Personally, I think that these two girls behaved as far too many American children would behave today...they would constantly try to thwart their parents' commands.

Back in the day, when we were raising our children, we encouraged our kids to question anything they did not understand or agree with...including their parents' commands. BUT we also taught them that there were times when they needed to obey immediately without question. An example of the latter is if they were about to cross the street and a car was coming. The children had no difficulty distinguishing between times when questioning was reasonable and when it was not.

If parents teach their children ahead of time that there are "no's" in the world and that at times they must not question these "no's", when emergencies do arise the children are more likely to survive. Trying to teach children this lesson during an emergency is too late.

?? You mean the older one? Can't think what the younger one ever did that might have been untypical. Lucy, the older child, was fascinating. The typical parental response would have been to spank her (roof scene), but they make clear why the parents knew better at the end. They knew their kids. In the end that knowledge saved Owen Wilsons characters life, BC even [spoiler!] with the guns at heads and orders from Dad to shoot, she refused to do so and time worked to her advantage.

They were not bad... but that is considering i watch the horrible remake of Poltergeist the night before I watch that film ! ;)

every movie with children in them will have an imdb post with someone complaining about how annoying and stupid the kids are. they think every child on the planet will possess the courage of a navy seal in such a situation. kids are gunna cry and be afraid. esp if they're being chased by murdering savages. and yeah they're going to do stupid things. why? because they are children. children raised in a civilized country not syria where a car explodes on their way to the market lmao they aren't used to a scary, hostile environment. it's the parents' job to keep them in check. and the parents in this movie did just that with flying colors. i bet you my kidney that these same people would crap their pants if they were in such a predicament. in their heads they think they're the ones that make it out alive. and they'd leave any child behind that sobs for 10 seconds straight without a second though.

reply

Are you serious? These kids were written dumb. No kid is going to run towards gunman killing people. Maybe you would, but not most kids. They do whatever it takes to hide. The little girl see's a man kicking in a door while her mom holds the door shut and she starts crying out for a teddy bear and still asks about getting a bulldog, GTFOH. Then while they see people being shot and rest for minute she asks Owen Wilson to tell her story during all this madness. Who does this?

reply

hmm when did one of the girls run towards gunmen "killing people"? i don't remember that scene. i remember lucy running towards 3 men near the end of the movie when she saw her father being beaten to death and nearly shot. you don't think it's plausible that a kid would try and "save" her father? if not, then perhaps it's like you say "maybe you would, but not most kids."

The little girl see's a man kicking in a door while her mom holds the door shut and she starts crying out for a teddy bear and still asks about getting a bulldog

i don't remember that scene either. i remember the little girl hiding in the bathroom scared with her stuffed toy and then goes and checks on her mother who is keeping the door from being kicked down, then the mom tells her to go and hide again and she does. the little girl never made a sound. the dog is mentioned in the hall by the little girl and later on owen uses it as a distraction before throwing her over to her mother on the other roof.

"who does this?" kids do :P

nah look i aint gunna sit here and pretend i know how every child would react in a situation like this because that's impossible. it's just i see people describing how a child should act in a hostile situation and then they expect them to follow through lol

everyone gets scared though. even us adults and we're supposed to be the ones keeping calm right :) anyways that's all

reply

You read it wrong. She ran towards the gunmen WHO WERE killing people while they were on the roof rather than being thrown to the other roof

reply

They were hideously written and acted dumb. Kids are smarter than that.

reply

Lucy was annoying as *beep* I *beep* hated her. First she ran off to the pool, then didn't want to jump. At the end she basically almost killed her whole family. What a stupid naive little girl.

State champ in martial arts, trained with firearms, I eFF'n dare you!

I was ANNOYED BY THE WIFE AND THE KIDS!!! This man had to fight all 3 of them to help them survive. He has to fight a screaming, whining wife and two screaming whining kids while the militia is on their heels.

I wanted him to leave them behind LOLLLLL but of course that would be insensitive.

reply

I totally agree. It was both not just the older. During this chaos these kids wanted to be nurtured. They were spoiled as f-ck. If shooting is going on around me, as a kid I would have done whatever it took to distance myself. Maybe that's the difference between growing up black and growing up white. When there's a problem, black people run while white people investigate

reply

yep, I was hoping they would drop them of the roof in the spoiled brat throwing scene, perfect reason to get rid of it, and no abortion.
