What do you think 'one big scare' was?

Back when all the reviews were coming out, several mention one scare that was the biggest the series has ever had, but obviously they didn't specify so as not to spoil it.

So what do you think it was?

Personally, I'm not sure. The scariest part for me was the hair pull. But largest in scale was probably the kitchen furniture drop. I thought it would something from the last act, as several reviews also mentioned the last 15 minutes being absolutely terrifying, but there wasn't really a big scare in that section.

The one big scare for me was when the lights turn on and there is that hoard of witches AHHH that was scary!

The hair pull is 2nd but was definitely very scary also!

The entire end sequence for me. Dennis is restless in bed and you hear weird sounds. There is also this eerie orange glow, prevalent in witch-type settings. The grandma was already suspect to me up to this point, and this was when the dread set in.

Then when Julie doesnt come back and disappears, and we see what looks to be a possessed Julie in the hallway behind Dennis as he grabs the camera (after only being missing for a few mins), the horrifying realisation of what is about to unfold is terrifying. From that point on, the ending is predictable. Dennis is another Micah-prototype, but here he is alone in a foreign setting with atleast 4 women of the cursed family. Once you see the symbols on the walls, and the old women (witches), you know it's a strong setting for the demons, he cant trust anyone, and he is doomed.

The rest of that sequence is just pure dread. You really feel the loneliness of Dennis in this situation, and feel really sorry for him.

I remember Katie mentioned a house burning down in the 1st movie, so at times I assumed that was Kristies promise with Toby, that she would burn the house down. But when they instead went to Grandmas house and I noticed the running time was almost up, then when Julie disappears, the absolute dread of Dennis's situation sets in.

Other than that, the first time we see the ghost sheet is horrifying in a comical way. I almost didnt see it but just before the camera panned back I realised it wasnt meant to be there, and knew it would be behind the girl. When it just fell to the floor, that was very classily done, but I felt it also showed a sense of humour.

Loved the Bloody Mary scene. Had me cold when the demon was rustling everything up outside and then cut Dennis's friend.

I agree with all of the above... Especially the Bloody Mary scene... What scared me most about that scene after a few re-watches was when everything was getting rustled about in the girls bedroom, did anyone notice that Toby's chair wasn't moving? The chair that Kristi earlier proclaimed to be "Toby's chair" was standing still while everything around it was moving... Just freaked me out for some reason...

I just have several parts in mind when it comes to the best scares. When Julie is in the kitchen, and she gets the door bell ring, and nobody is there. She closes the door. Then the whole kitchen, everything including the kitchen sink falls to the ground. Then, the bedsheet scene, where the demon puts on the bedsheet, and stands behind the babysitter. Then when she turns her head to look , the sheet falls to the ground. Those were awesome scenes!

The hair pull scene wasn't bad. It just was much too CGI looking for me to not notice and took me out of the shock. They did better with the "floating" Julie.

But the kitchen scene was a good one. They should have just held the suspense a tad longer.

Though I really liked when Katie ran into the room and was stopped by the unseen demon force. That was the best!

I think I must be the only one who thought the ghost scene was funny.

I thought the Bloody Mary scene was scary, and then it attacking Katie when she's trying to get to Kristi. I also got creeped out by all the old ladies, and the way Kristi said casually "Come on Tobi" at the end of the movie, and she holds out her hand. She just witnessed her step father get murdered, and her mother was dead on the floor as well.
