How can the studio salvage this saga?

Part II has already been made, and money was already spent. They have to release it: I think they made the right choice by delaying its release. Let this movie get some viewership on streaming and hope Part II works out

But after Part II, I think they have two options

1). Cut Part 4 off entirely and force Costner to condense the two movies into Part 3, which will be the conclusion. The downside is the negative press when people realize they cancelled Part 4 because of this movie’s failure

2). Severely limit the budget for Parts 3 and 4. The downside is that the movie’s strong points are the costumes and cinematography; can this sort of movie survive without breathtaking shots of open western scenery?

Don't know. From that montage they ran at the end of the movie it doesn't look like even part 2 is going to have any satisfying story payoffs. This is obviously supposed to be a huge epic tale about this city getting built but I don't think three movies is gonna get us there. Unless crazy Kevin keeps opening his pocket book for these this story ain't gonna finish. I was wondering if they didn't pull the release of chapter two to give it an overhaul. Maybe they're gonna wrap this thing up in just two movies.
