Finally saw it...not too impressed actually.

I always like Tom's acting and presence in films.

Without him and the brilliant flying scenes, it was an average action flagwaver which only Americans like.

Also, Top Gun are not necessarily the best pilots on earth, despite behaving like immature frat boys all day.

Horrible take.

TGM has seen anywhere from 34x to 51x the demand over the average movie in Great Britain, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, India, and more.

Critical and commercial success worldwide.

And gold medal Olympians may not necessarily be the best in the world at their sport, but that's who we recognize as being the best in the world.

Being an immature frat boy has literally nothing to do with skills in piloting a plane. Literally nothing.

I ALWAYS say: Everyone is allowed to like or dislike whatever they choose. no harm, no foul, you do you.

Still, it is a global juggernaut.

Oh absolutely agree with anyone having varying opinions on anything.

But when those reasons are backed up by absolute horseshit explanations, the credibility of their opinion goes out the window. 🤣

It's a fun summer movie, but it is amazing how much it blew up. I think it was the exact right movie at the exact right time. It was a weak summer for movies so it had little competition. It had the one true movie star left in it, plus a solid supporting cast. They used real effects and little CGI, which truly appealed to a lot of people (like me). It also was a sequel to a massive hit film from ages ago so it had the nostalgia and curiosity factor.

It was a perfect storm.

Nope. TG Maverick made more money internationally than it did domestically

Yes, U.S. pilots are the best, not necessarily because of training, but because they are pretty much the only ones that have actual combat experience.
