Is it worth watching?

I like Cruise, he seems a decent fella, and many of his films.

I never saw the original, now rather clichéd 80's gay-ish TG (RIP Tony Scott), but saw the trailer for this sequel, and in the making of which I understand Tom to have trained and flown as a passenger with actual fighter pilots.

Nah, go watch The Woman King instead

Are you still here posting stupid threads and replies for attention? Why are you pretending to be stupid? Are we supposed to think its funny? Please explain your act?

I crack up at least. Makes a boring day go by faster

It's alright but nowhere near as good as RRR which is without question the FILM OF THE YEAR thus far...

reply

"Would you recommend this movie, in which this section of message board is dedicated to?"

"I'm going to bring up a completely different movie for some reason."

🤦‍♂️

reply

For some reason?

The OP asked if Top Gun was worth watching. I replied that it was okay but you should certainly watch RRR which is quite possibly the film of the year.

Follow the dots, see if you can work it out!

reply

OP didn't ask for your thoughts on your thoughts on RRR. Nobody did. OP didn't ask what your pick of movie of the year is. Nobody did.

Follow what dots? There are no dots. Just because you say there's dots doesn't make it so.
"How is that new restaurant in town?"
"I like Wendys. Follow the dots."

🤦‍♂️

reply

I can only reiterate that he asked if it was worth watching. I replied that it was okay, then gave him a film which certainly was worth watching.

I can only apologise to you if you cannot see the logical connection.

Good luck to you Sir 👍.

(And give RRR a try. It really is a superb movie!)

reply

It was a rather simple question to which "Yeah" would've been sufficient.

To be honest, your unsolicited opinion on an unrelated film (other than year of release, that is) most likely has to with being a contrarian on the idea that majority consider this to be movie of the year.

reply

Not to mention the fact that you're hung up on Tom Cruise's jowels.🤣

We both know what's really going on here. 🤣🤣

reply

Hey, it's a movie chat site - unsolicited opinions are how pretty much every single thread gets started.

As I said, the OP asked if it was worth watching, I said it was okay then started thinking of what I'd seen recently which was really, really worth watching.

RRR was the answer to that question. You really should give it a watch. You won't be disappointed 👍.

reply

There's a lack of Tom Cruise jowls. OF COURSE you'd recommend it 🤣

reply

I believe Tom Cruise's jowls would be absent from any non Tom Cruise related film. However I'd certainly recommend RRR if you're looking a top piece of entertainment.

They flew as passengers in the first film as well

But yes, this film is worth watching. If you've seen the original, the first minute pays homage to it, but immediately afterwards it becomes a Kosinski film with very distinct and contemporary cinematography

And the story's "grown up" a bit, too, by openly embracing the issues like aging and parenthood that the original would never have touched

It's just a good film, on its own, more so than I think anyone was expecting, so it's definitely worth seeing, ideally on a big screen

reply

It's much better than the original, less cheesy and more engaging. Missing some of the memorable dialogue though.

Really, this should get a Best Picture nomination. It's what you go to the movies for. Too bad the Academy people don't get that.

reply

I agree with you about the best picture however, for particular reasons, this film will probably not get nominated for anything.

Oscars these days are based strictly on paybacks and inclusion.

reply

I'd say MOST of the flying scenes are in real planes in the air, G forces and all. There are a little bit of quiet CGI going on, but the plot is still exciting and entertaining. Worth it to see on big screen IMHO

Yes it is.

reply

Either watch it or don't. Why the fuck do you need people to tell you either way???

reply

Because this is a DISCUSSION FORUM, retard.

reply

Exactly. So discuss the damn film after watching it...instead of asking people if you should watch the film..
